http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_SRWH_AUD3.html Is the same as above without the HILO box. This DOES NOT FIX audio issues but is cheaper.

Adds steering wheel controls to the boxes above. The problem with a boss radio is that you program the buttons by holding down the button and there is no way to hold down the rolling buttons so the rolling buttons do not work.

There is a writeup on Audizine about the single to double din swap. Once you do the swap here are the parts.

Regarding your new website, what do we do if the model of the new HU is not listed in your drop-down?

Also, reading about the HILO box, it says this, "The Hilo box fixes all the low audio issues that you A4/S4/RS4 has. The factory radio output is about 6 Volts. Most aftermarket radios have a 2V output so the factory amp receives a much lower signal than the factory radio was sending. If your radio has 4V outputs we still recommend getting the HILO to get better sound out of your new radio.".

What if the new HU has 5 or more volts of pre-amp output?

Tell me the radio and I will look into it. I have had at least one customer tell me that even with 5V outputs the HILO made a significant improvement. We have not tested it ourselves yet.

Thanks for this topic, Christian. I've finally decided I've had enough of my old audio system, now that I'll be sticking with my car longer than I'd originally planned.

    1. Year and model of car: 2007 AUDI A3
    2. What radio did the car come with from the factory: Concert (stock)
    3. Does the car have steering wheel controls: YES
    4. What is the brand and model number of your new radio: Considering PIONEER DEH-80PRS
    5. Are you going to be using a Sirius XM satellite tuner if yes which one: Not now, but maybe later.

My ownership with the A3 will be 11 years this August and itching to change the sound system. Right now it's a single DIN Concert (not sure if I or II) with phone Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. I toyed with the idea of upgrading to an RNS-E, obtaining used parts, but so many parts are required to convert to double-DIN that the cost makes it prohibitive given how much I drive the car. I estimated the lowest price would be $300 (cage, surround, climate control) just to make it able to receive a double-DIN system... and that's assuming the existing wiring harness would be used (it may need another to adapt). Given I seldom rely on navigation and can easily use my phone for that when needed, having a large screen doesn't seem all that necessary. As long as I've got voice control, Bluetooth for phone and digital audio, I'm great.

After searching around enough, seems like the Pioneer DEH-80PRS would do the trick and is highly received.
So as I understand it, 2 harnesses are required -- 1) adapter for OEM wiring harness, and 2) adapter for steering wheel controls.
And a face-plate surround that will fit.
    Anything else?

Would like to know radio size (sizes that fit in the oem slot) and what's needed for install.

Most standard double din and single din radios fit. I recommend Pioneer Kenwood JVC or Sony. Once you find a radio then I can help out with the parts needed.

So I've had this Pioneer FH-X720BT head unit for sometime now and could never get it properly working. I had gotten some help before but couldn't figure out why I couldn't get sound out of all my speakers. So I decided to leave it alone and come back after some time. Upon further investigation I believe they sent me the wrong harness, still not convinced this will solve all my problems so maybe someone here can give some insight. So let's try this again

    1. 2001.5 A4
    2. Symphony double din w/bose

Wiring harness - Connects to your cars original harness and terminates into Blaupunkt style connector. (We also have PNP adapters that convert the Blaupunkt style connector into radio specific connections)

All 2004 came with SYII radio unles it was the single din concert.

We were going to make a no steering wheel control HILO but decided to bring the price of the HILO with steering down to the no steering price.
We did the same with the non HILO units and got rid of the SRWH-AUD2-NS. Its still on the site but if you order it we just send you the SRWH-AUD2-B

Question B7 A4, Pioneer AVH-4400NEX with Maestro interface

    Hi Christian,

I've been following this post for some time, seeing what people are doing in their cars and you put out great info. Your contribution is much appreciated. I really wanted guages, so I went with an iDataLink compatible unit, an iDataLink Maestro. However it doesn't support the factory amp which I am retaining for now until I figure out how to move forward with that swap.

The HU retailer (one of their installers told me they often combine the Maestro solution and a harness adapter from PAC, utilizing the PAC harness adapter to feed the audio to retain the amp. I'm looking for what you have to offer to fill out the installation.

    Items I have:

    1. Year and model of car
    2008 A4 Saloon/Sedan

    2. What radio did the car come with from the factory. (It doesn't matter if you have Bose)
Symphony II? 6 CD eater, no nav, no Bose, SAT capable but not equipped.

3.Does the car have steering wheel controls?
    Yes

4 What is the brand and model number of your new radio?
    Pioneer AVH-4400NEX

    5. Are you going to be using a Sirius XM satellite tuner if yes which one?
I'd like the option. It's built in to the head unit.

I did mod the car to install an Aux in using an Audi/VW factory connector installed under the console arm rest - similar to this.

As the harness end was different, I bought pins, crimped and inserted them into the factory radio harness (don't ask me why I've had a crimper for those pins for the last 15 years, used once...now twice). I'll obtain and solder a 1/8" TRS plug onto this unless there is an option to adapt from the harness.

I will be using the HU Bluetooth so I'll have to determine what I have and disable the vehicle BT module (probably under the pass seat). I also want to use the factory mic location.

I'll run wires off the HU for a remote amp turn on and line level audio while I'm pulling the cables for the SAT antenna and backup camera. Thinking I should pull rear speaker wires also and use the HU to drive them when I replace the amp. Maybe this project is a good time to do that as well. Just a little amp to drive the sub.

    Thank you!
    David

We made a custom one for a customer that said the controls didn't work 100%. The only way we could do this is to merge the maestro harness with our hilo harness at a cost of $250. There ins't a huge market for this so we don't offer it. Since you already have the maestro I cant really help you there.

Here are the rest of the parts.

To use factory GPS antenna. All 2004-2008 radios have a connection in the rear right C pillar. Cars with the RNS-E radio have it behind the radio.

If car has GPS antenna on roof but not behind radio you will also need this extension.

    Thank you Christian!

All the parts are in and I'm looking forward to getting it all together. Was -25 yesterday morning, so I might wait for some of it. Don't want to pull the seat just to finish running cable just yet, but will soon enough. Already did the passenger side last week and was so cold (but I had to be ready for the Enfig kit and the amp). Although I'm using the Maestro, I've made sure to drop the name Enfig into their forums!

    Hi Christian;
I've got a 2002 A4 Avant (B6) with original Bose symphony stereo. No steering wheel controls. I'd like to upgrade to a modern unit that can connect to my iPhone for music and navigation but I've no idea how the current units compare to each other. My mechanic tells me that because my B6 is 2002 it has some strange wiring. Is this a problem? The current speakers and amp seem to work fine but will they work with the modern units. I'm leaning towards a Pioneer MVH 1300 but mostly because I recognize the name. I've no idea how to assess the BOSS, XTRONS or MCWAUTO systems I come across. Ideally, I'd like another multi-disc changer but haven't seen one yet. Do they exist still? Do you have any recommendations? As I live in Vancouver, BC, I need canadian mapping which Ive been told is often an extra charge.

Stay away form all that Chinese stuff. I have banned them at the shop because of random issues. This radio is not out yet but for the price it should be the go to for anyone looking for a cheap quality radio. And it does not have a shallow face so it will not look sunk in with my kit.

the iLX-W650 seems a popular unit. It's sold out at the best buy and amazon doesn't have it listed. Will I have to get the alpine amp as well or will it work with the bose amp and speakers I already have?

All the parts are in and I'm looking forward to getting it all together. Was -25 yesterday morning, so I might wait for some of it. Don't want to pull the seat just to finish running cable just yet, but will soon enough. Already did the passenger side last week and was so cold (but I had to be ready for the Enfig kit and the amp). Although I'm using the Maestro, I've made sure to drop the name Enfig into their forums!
it warmed up and I've got most of the install done. I ordered the microphone without the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. Didn't know if it was 2.5mm M or F to the opposite 3.5mm. Need 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter with your microphone with this HU.

    Guessing it's a cable like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...female_to.html.

I don't see it as a separate item on your site. Are you willing to sell it separately? Or should I just order from the above link?

Still need to run the GPS antenna cable, but that doesn't look too hard. Have the rear window top trim off and can see the end. So I'll remove the glove box to run the mic and will run the GPS at the same time.

Now if I can get the Pioneer to work right - No Android Auto for more than a few minutes with a Samsung USB cable and Pandora over BT doesn't work. Pioneer support told me to get a new phone (the 2 year old phone is now garbage?).

And if the silly Maestro module would work. No reverse for camera or dimming of the lights at night. No display on the DIS. No Boost or Oil Temp (the main reason for the Maestro) because they don't support it. Looks like I'm running wires for reverse and tapping off the buttons/hazard/card tray above the radio for illumination control. And still have to get a dual gauge pod. Does have great steering wheel controls and a number of gauge options (just the ones I want are grayed out).

    Thanks,
    David

That looks like the correct part but I can sell it to you for $1 plus the $5 shipping.

I always recommend a USB-IF certified cable and make sure to clean the contacts in the phone. This is the list I use I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Sorry about the Maestro not working. I made one for one customer and I remember issues but I though it was the steering wheel controls. That's why I don't sell it.
