    Question 5mm Spacers for RS5 - few Q's

Are stock lugs long enough? Looking to get at least 7 full lug turns.

And any reason NOT to go with spacers like these?

IMO, stick with a reputable brand like H and R. ebay spacers may fit but over time may corride and melt onto the hub, almost imposible to get off ( cough alex )

i believe you will need extended lugs. i know i did with 6mm

I bought a set of spacers from pe-motorworks and they're good quality. Had them over 2 years and no problem.

Ive taken them on and off more times than I can rememer. Just use anti seize when you install them.

Audi typically sizes their lugs just long enough, for any addition of spacers it's recommended to get lug bolts which are longer than OEM by the same thickness of the spacers you are using.

How many lug turns did you get?

I installed studs & lug nuts so I wouldn't have to worry getting the right sized bolts for different setups.

I'd go with what Skyler said above

The OEM wheel bolts are 27.5 mm (I think M14 x 1.5 x 27.5 without going into my files to confirm) and have a semiconical free-rotating washer designated R13 that not only does less damage to the wheels but avoids slackening off. You need 33 mm bolts to fit 5 mm spacers, if you buy them here the cone is part of the bolt. In fact, you can get longer 2-piece bolts in Germany, about 1.40 euros each, I will find my links and post them. The only 5 mm spacers I have been able to find here are only hubcebtric on one side, and on my A6 4.2 I had a lot of vibration issues using 10 mm spacers that were only hubcentric on one side (Eibach) , finally found the Trakplus spacers from H&R which were hubcentric both sides and work beautifully. I am going to search in Germany for 5 mm spacers that are hubcentric both sides. Don't know why 5 mm is the max for the S5, looks like enough space under the fenders to go 10 mm, but I think it is because the front hubs do not project very far. Note that the taper on OEM wheels is different from aftermarket wheels, on my A6 there were two different 10 mm spacers to choose from, one for OEM, one for aftermarket. Using the OEM with aftermarket and vice versa causes vibration issues and is probably dmaging for the wheels and dangerous.

This is the vendor I found in Germany who offers M14 x 1.5 x 33 mm wheel bolts, 2-piece style: http://www.turboloch.com/index.php?a=294. But there are others, who apparently can offer the 2-piece design also in 38 mm length.

Uh... I'm no noob to car mods. This would be my first dive into Audi’s, yes, but I’ve been through everything from Hella-Flush Slammed JDM’s (yep, used Spacers and extended studs) to Supercharged 7.0L 800hp, 10 second American Muscle. I’ve rolled fenders, heat gunned plastic wells and purchased custom made 3 piece wheels in the pursuit of “stance”. On the flip side I’ve blown, stroked & forged out motors, built transmissions and prepaired drive trains to take the brunt of 730awtq launches at the track in the pursuit of 10 second slips.

Call em whatever you like - they are extended studs.

Whoa there Mr. Goodwerench, I wasn't calling anyone specific a noob, just saying studs are better than bolts, especially for us enthusiasts and wheel whores...

Not really important but they aren't. A bolt has a head, a stud does not. You're looking for longer bolts, nut studs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheel_stud
