Scan Code 00870-168 DTC Definitions not found! ???

My ENGINE LIGHT went on in my 2010 S5, so I bought an Autel scanner which is supposed to read Audi CAN BUS codes. I got this message and cant figure out what it means - an no help from the Autel web site either:

00870-168
CAN BUS
DTC definitions not found! Please refer to vehicle service manual

I found the answer. This is what the manufacturer replied to an e-mail I sent:

Thanks for your recent inquiry.

VAG405 is a very old model, so your car, 2010 Audi, may not be included.

Lesson learned - I need to find a scanner that works with my car...

CT... I saw Ross-Tech has a good system, but I don't want to spend $299 for it - I just want something simple to read codes - nothing fancy

If you got us the code and info from vag-com VCDS we could give you some help.

Ross-tech has been the standard for a long time we have 2 cables here for our shop and office. We have been using them since 2005. You can pull codes on ALL modules, reset service reminders, reset codes and log data.

You can actually use it to "tweak" you car some as well. We have been doing since the B5 models, all though the newer cars you can customize more from the car option in the console the pre B8 cars required vag com for those tweaks.
