Question Trunk Floor Mat Beat up,Hardwood Replacement??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys so the mat that lays flat in any b5 a4 s4 including my car is a bit beat up and dirty and so on.It might be cracked or bent as it always sinks in one spot lower than the others.I am thinking of building a hardwood floor on a frame into the trunk.More than likely something with a hinge for access to the spare and 2 piece should make is easy to take out if I need to.Just wanted to know if anyone else here has done this the search button didnt turn much up how to go about doing this,or any results as to those who have done it.

i didnt bother with a frame, went to lowes and got a solid like 1/2" sheet of oak. traced the trunk carpet onto it. cut it out, cut it not in half but where the carpet would bend so you can access the spare, then used a piano hinge, and for a handle i used a hinged handle what was flush with the wood. no need for a frame. unless you want to use in home hardwood slats.

Let me get you a can of Pabst, some moustache wax, and a shitty fixed gear bike for the inevitable roof rack with vintage cooler.

Why not just get some ply wood and cover it with trunk carpet. I used to have a harwood floor in my avant and after one season of snowboarding it was scratched to shit.

Oak is very heavy , might wanna try another lighter wieght wood..... There are fake laminate type wood floors that may work and be light Also
