HRE Performance Wheels Formally Introduces Flagship P1 Monoblok
HRE Series P1 line utilizes cutting-edge design, engineering and forging technology to create the newest industry standard for 1-piece performance wheels.

HRE has long been known as a performance-driven company where strength, lightness and superior engineering have forged some of the most iconic wheel designs of the past three decades. Inspired by its best selling three-piece Series S1 line, HRE has now launched a Monoblok interpretation of these three designs to create the Series P1.

The Series P1 debuts with three new models, including the 5-spoke mesh P101, the V-5 spoke P104 and the split 5-spoke P107, available in diameters ranging from 19 to 22 inches and widths from 8.5 to 13 inches. Features include sculpted spoke geometry and lightweight pocket machining inspired by HRE’s world-record breaking motorsports division, aggressive conical profiles and spokes that extend all the way to the wheel lip.

All HRE wheels are engineered to minimize unsprung mass and rotational inertia for optimal acceleration, handling and braking performance. Each wheel is built-to-order and there are nearly infinite fitment, color and finish options available for the ultimate custom-tailored wheel buying experience. A wide variety of applications are available including many of the most popular sports and lu
xury cars on the market, such as the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, BMW M3/M5/M6, Audi RS5 and Nissan GT-R.

To request more information or to place an order, please visit HRE Wheels or call us at +1 760.598.1960.

Two of the biggest differences are weight and structure. These are much lighter than the Series S1 as these are 1-piece.

Pricing between the P1 and S1 series is very close, but will depend on finish.
If you're interested in pricing, let us know.

I was wondering if HRE is willing to share some information about the forging technology behind these wheels. Have there been any advancements made in this area? Are the blanks still being made by APP on a 4000 ton forging press? Do these wheels feature optimal grain alignment in the spoke area? I'm just trying to establish what exactly warrants the $2000+ cost per wheel.

You are partially correct. Below are just a few factors that we hope can help quantify and/or justify the price tag for a set of HRE Wheels:

    • Quality
    • Customer Service
    • Short Lead Times
    • 100% Customization
    • Experience - We have over 30 years of knowledge in producing some the best wheels in this industry - including some for top companies around the world.
    • Wheel Structure & Weight - For example, In the Series P1, we have developed one of our strongest and lightest wheels (outside of the Carbon Series). Ever.
    • TUV®-verified and -certified - An incredibly costly process, Verified Quality Management System is the rarest and strictest quality and engineering status in the wheel industry. We are one of only very few wheel manufacturers worldwide to receive this quality verification.

So can anyone from HRE actually answer my questions concerning the manufacturing process? I will repeat them for your convinience:

Have there been any advancement made in the forging technology used?
Are the blanks still being made by APP on a 4000 ton forging press?
Do these wheels feature optimal grain alignment in the spoke area?

Also, you claim 100% customization, but this isn't a modular wheel, so what are we talking about here? Are you saying that if I ask for a low positive or 0 offset, you will change the curvature of the spokes? Or are you simply going to give me a thicker, heavier hub pad?

..anyway for the wheels on the project series, I have been working with HRE for about a month now to be one of the first Audi's, along with the TAG RS5 to roll the Series P1 HRE. They where delivered today.... 21 x 9.5" and weighing 21.8lbs. Brushed Tinted Clear, Vintage White Caps and Gloss Red Paint fill...here are a few pics from today...

...as part of the project series, these wheels will have a 3 part feature. Part 1 will be out here imminently (Ill return to post a link) in which I sit down and talk with Patrick Moran, Creative Director at HRE about the Series P1, Audi builds in general and what differentiates HRE from the rest of the wheel industry. To answer a few of the questions above, HRE does utilize 6061-T6 Aluminum from Aluminum Precision Products which is the absolute best quality aerospace grade forgings they can find. Both Alan (President) and Patrick came from Aerospace prior to HRE and HRE ensures they utilize the absolute best quality product they can in every facet of the build. From forgings, to bolts, to power coat and finishes.

In discussion with Alan Petltier I had some brief discussion with him on the build of the P1 Series and how its different from say a P40SC Monoblok....as many know the P1 is an expensive wheel, the same price and design of its multi piece S1 brother. Alan shared that the P1 designs "have considerable "surfaced" features which require HRE to machine using a method called kellering and that it is sort of like machining with the tip of a pencil. The P40SC in comparison has no surfaced features and takes considerably less time to machine." On a personal note, I have heard from various sources that a P1 monoblock might take up to triple the machine time. This process allows HRE to add not only style but optimize mass reduction and as such the Series P1 is considerably lighter and stronger than a like P40SC in the same size and width.

Further, every single step of my P1 build was photographed and that will also be a pictorial article coming up, likely part 2 of that 3 part series. (The final being the install, SEMA and the like) - that being said, keep an eye out for these links, feel free to join my build article...and join me...have some crazy stuff planned with the first titanium exhaust for an S7, carbon air box and some goodies with APR.....600 HP and 600 TQ soon - car is about to be wrapped, was just tinted and the H&R suspension module is already on.

If anyone has any additional questions feel free to ask and Ill answer if I can or I am sure HRE will also. Ill be back to provide those links also....and feel free to PM me as well if you like.

..oh current HRE ETA's from a new order are about 6-8 weeks. Have a good evening.
