JHM tune done! Whats all the whining fuss about relearning how to drive lol

The pedal has a no slop or lag now, which I love. I dont understand why so many people speak of having to relearn how to drive the car. Less pedal and more responsiveness is fun!

I'm awaiting my ecu file before I flash my 2004 tip. I'm interested in your experiences with the tune? Is it a big difference? (not only in regard to the throttle response)
    Review, please! :)

I drove better than stock immediately, aside from overshooting my rev matching for downshifts, which I adjusted after 5 mins.

well you have an auto..... you can't really re-learn how to use an auto......so the re-learning 1st gear doesn't quit apply

You have an automatic tranny. It "re-learns" on your behalf. Big improvement over stock otherwise?

^^Uh oh, here we go... wouldn't 1:1 throttle remap be the same regardless of transmission? Not like getting the tune changes how the car shifts (except the auto, supposedly makes it faster), just how the pedal affects throttle. I can see going over speed bumps being more of an issue with a manual vs auto, since an auto is always lurching forward while a manual you would have to be a bit more graceful with the throttle to get over. Also, doesn't the manual "re-learn" on your behalf as well, like an auto would? Both have the same adaptive ECU.

I think so, much more accurate pedal position and no throttle lag.

OP please vote and post this. It seems this is a hot debate that we need to have more opinions on

If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

JHM powered 12.2 On the JHM Tune With Launch Assist for the Automatic JHM Nitrous kit/JHM headers all this in a Automatic.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in
I came here from Germany in the 6th grade. I could not read or write a lick of English. I am working to get better. Thanks and sorry. I always try to edit my posts for the best grammar and easiest reading.

    Thx for the link.
I, for one, like a more in depth review of the tune for a tip transmission. I've read the topic (100 of 171 posts), but there's much general info there (very useful to decide which tune you want) and why.
    But questions like:
How do D and S feel after the tune? How does the launch control work? Is there a improved gas mileage? Are not really answered (or the answers need to be in the posts I didn't read yet :))

I believe the op can contribute to the existing topic with his review!

The ECU reset and TBA fixed the issue. However I still do not get a cell... I think some company I trusted before has messed up.... again (they put my broken ECU back to stock) So I'm eagerly awaiting the tune file from JHM now!

Well, in a car with a manual transmission, you need to modulate the throttle while timing the clutch release to transition into first gear. When the throttle input changes via an ECU re-tune, you need to adjust your timing so the transition continues to be smooth and efficient. This is the case for starts and rev-matching downshifts. Whereas in an auto, you move your foot from the brake to the gas and move forward. Yes, the acceleration may be different, but there's no learning taking place - in my opinion anyway.

Either way, happy to hear the OP likes the tune.

I've noticed myself lurching my car a lot lately... and in front of ppl downtown! Haha... it's my bad, though. Leaving the car in first and going over bumps takes concentration to drive smoothly, but my car did this before the tune... and it's nowhere near a problem. Just shift into second.
