Also not against getting a cheaper (3rd party) one that works better or as good as the Audi one.
I was looking at this one

What were your reasons for getting one? I am not familiar with what material this one from Audi NA is made of. Depending on your needs, California Car Covers (which by the way are mostly manufactured by Covercraft) market several different materials.
Covering a daily driver can be challenging but only you can decide if it is worth it to you. As long as the cover is clean and your car is clean and free of dust and dirt, it is NOT going to scratch your car.
If your car is garaged at night and you commute each day to a hot sunny location at your workplace parking lot, where the car sits all day, it may be quite worthwhile to protect it from the damaging sun and as others have mentioned bird droppings, etc.
If you go for a cover, I would highly recommend picking up a California Car Duster and lightly dusting your car each time before installing the cover.
We recently purchased a California Car Cover Weathershield HP for our Son's WRX wagon. It is very lightweight and easy to install. The only thing is, it is so lightweight, it is hard to fold up during removal . There is a procedure where you fold the entire length of the cover half up on both sides to the center on the car, then fold from back to front. This way, you simply reverse the procedure to quickly reinstall it. Meanwhile, I have one of their all cotton ones for my garaged A4. This cover is quite heavy (still fits in our home washing machine) but it is easier to fold and unfold. However, the all cotton one is recommended for indoors. I use it to keep the dust off it since it is quite dusty where we live.
The right cover can also protect your car from hard water spots due to sprinklers hitting it and some can protect from acid rain, etc..
