Adding 3MM/5MM spacers - Will I need new lug bolts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Guys,
I'm running VMR V701's in 19x9.5 ET45. I'd like to get some spacers and thinking of doing 3MM up front and 5MM for the rears. Will I need longer lug bolts?

Hoping to hear a more specific answer, I'm not sure with VMR wheels how many threads I can get.

Most people, and even most shops will say up to 5mm you won't need longer bolts. Anything more and you do. I've run 8mm without longer bolts but that probably wasn't a great idea.

stock bolts I believe are 28mm...if you add 5mm then ideally you would want at least 33mm bolts but you can get away with at least 6 threads if it's just a tad short. 3mm is almost nothing so you should definitely be fine up front and really wouldn't sweat those

For 10mm yes you'll definitely need longer bolts.

I have the same spec wheels with 5mm in the rear. I have longer bolts in the rear (32mm), even though I've heard repeatedly that I wouldn't need longer bolts. I do recall securing one of my rear wheels with stock bolts and I did get enough rotations to securely hold the wheel in place. If you want to save some money, just stick with stock bolts.

up to 5 you should be safe. i have been doing that on all my wheels and my VMRs had 5mm too
Modifications: Parents ran out of money so they bought me tires that were way too small for my wheels.

Calbee did you run 5mm up front? That makes them 9.5 et40. Not worried about rubbing but don't want poke.
