Question Plug n Play chip and other ECU flashing

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

I looked through ebay the other night and came across something I've never seen before...
Plug n Play chip and OBD2 plugs that reflashes your ECU while they are plugged in, and if you remove them your ECU is stock again in no time!
    Ex:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Performance-...item27d5508a09

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stage-1-GTE-...27166e&vxp=mtr

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLU-CHIP-OBD...item2ec947bdeb

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUDI-PERFORM...95e8d3&vxp=mtr

They leave no trace in the ECU and shall give up to to 35-45 bhp...

Is it safe to use something like this?
Any experience of this kind of chip/ECU flash etc?

Are you being serious? I can't tell but all if those options are terrible. If you want a proper flash these are the companies you want: apr, unitronic, revo, giac, maestro, and some others I can't think about. I wouldn't believe those eBay links for a second. If you're trying to save money on performance.. Especially for ecu flash... I think you bought the wrong car.

Apr is having their summer sale at the moment.

Naa, I was curious about those ebay chip/flash things they had, I already have a proper tuning software with a flash control, or flash box, the thing you flash through the obd2 and then remove :)
but that software with the proper computer costs around 900$ US.

Thank you for the reply tho, I hope someone has tryed those softwares or tuning boxes for a review :)
    Wouldnt you agree?

Interesting. How do these plug in flashers work?
Wish there were literature on how these things. Does the computer bypass the ECU for timing information?

Maybe getting back into a Civic would be a better option...

    Don't get me wrong here..

I think ppl was thinking I had one of these things I posted and started talking about how crappy those are.. or something in that direction..

The question I had was, What is this, Does it work, Will it damage the engine, anyone tryed it, any experience at all with this or is this modules new to the market etc..

I already have a proper tune for my car in the first place from http://en.bsr.se/, those ones are great and they leave a warranty on the engine and driveline, they do testruns with your car on the dyno and so forth...

    Thanks! :)

I think you're better getting the electric turbo charger if your asking for performance from eBay. Seriously I would look for parts on eBay but no thanks on the " performance enhancers" , they can sound tempting to some but really use common sense.

Edit- just looked at the links and I would stay away from the second / third one if you're going to try it, how can one tune work for the b6 1.8t ,b7 2.0t ,and b8 2.0t?
