    A8(L) Wheels Fitment Thread???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is there a thread out there with a bunch of pics and specs on wheels on the A8's??

Edit: I've been told there isn't so let's start one.

Post up pictures of your wheel fitment.
List the wheel size, offset, and tire size.
Include any spacers and if the car has been lowered (and how).

    INFO:

I ran into the same issue when I purchased my '06. A google search (along with searching modded S8's) provided several examples. On that note i'm selling a set of A8/S8 specific 21" MTM's which were one of my dream wheels. Not trying to hijack the thread at all, just wanted to put it out there in case you're unable to find what you're looking for.

I started this thread to see what the cars look like with different wheels. I want to know the specs for future reference, not to buy them.

Depending on the tire size and whether you're lowered or not I think you could run a 19x10.5 wheel with a +30 on a D3.

You'll have plenty of room in the front (you can even add a 10mm spacer) on 245/35 tires and the rear will fit real nice with a 285/30 tire.

21 x 10.5" MTM Bimoto's on 295/30/21 tires with lowering links installed. No rubbing except for a little at the front on a hard turn when the suspension compresses (and even then just a bit).

I'm running 295's front and rear. Rears don't rub at all, only the fronts and even then only a very minor amount.

For the front you'll fit fine with a 265/35 (you can add a 5mm spacer and still not rub). I just like when the tire goes straight up or is a little bit of a stretch. Those sizes you want will make the tire stick out farther than the rim.
On the rear you can run 305/30/20 with a 20x10.5 +42 if MCM is running 21x10.5 +40 without rubbing

Very sorry to be stupid here... ...
Been reading so much about how stagged is bad for our cars in the past two days. So if I run 20x9 et32 on the front and 20x9 et25 with same tire on the back. Does it count as stagged too or no?? I think this should achieve the same (or somewhat the same) look right?

This is my third AWD car and I have had staggered wheels/tires on the first two with no issues. Maybe its an Audi thing but the forums for the other cars say it isn't much of an issue if you're not WAY off.
I don't think you'll have any issues since its just offset that is different. I've only heard of issues with people that have something like a 8" wide in the front and 10" wide in the back.

If you have a D3 you can EASILY fit 10's all the way around. The only reason I would go staggered is if you can find a wheel that will have lip that let's people know the wheels are staggered, and I could not find one that fits the A8 D3. There are wheels that fit BMW where you get that lip that is wider on the rear, but with the Audi (just my opinion here) you really are better off going with big fat tires all around. (BTW my car is the one at the begining of this with the Rotiform wheels)

A question for you guys who obviously know a lot more about how wheels fit on a car that I do... Without modifications, is it feasible to use S7 OEM wheels (20", 9" wide, 37mm offset) on a 2008 A8? The stock wheels on the A8 are 18-inch, 8.5" wide, 45 offset. Will they fit and how, if at all, will that affect the handling? Thanks!

You'll actually have more backspace and only 14.3 mm extra poke (0.56 inches). Should fit no problem.

I believe that's the same size as the S8 wheels which I'm running on my A8 (not lowered).

    MyBoyBlue,

Thanks for the reply. Nice looking car! From what I can tell those S8 rims have a 45mm offset. So yours would poke out 8mm less than the S7 wheels I was looking at. And who knows if 8mm means much. On one hand, some guys put some crazy rims on cars and seem to get away with it. But on the other hand if the car was engineered for a certain offset, the wheel might "fit" but might impact how the car handles.

Thanks for the info, wasn't sure what my offset was. Another 8mm isn't going to make any difference. I hear a lot on this forum about aftermarket wheels and people seem to be afraid to go with anything much different than stock specs. The only thing that would really make any noticeable difference would be a big staggered setup or larger overall diameter than stock (speedometer vs. actual speed). Might feel a little rougher of a ride because you'll have low profile tires but these cars are so damn smooth I wouldn't even notice.

If you're not going with a staggered setup and the diameter isn't a huge difference then just enjoy the new wheels.

I think you're right. I stumbled on the recommended wheels on the Tire Rack site. Put in 2008 A8 and they show what wheels they say will work on your car. There are several 20x9 wheels, a couple with 38mm offset and even one with 32mm. So if Tire Rack is suggesting that those will work, I'm sure a 20x9 wheel with a 37mm offset will work.

    Thanks for the help!
