Trying to get a good grasp on everything that's considered including overall diameter and edge position, and rubbing.
Also curious if certain ones are lighter than others according to the size, brand, and model.

Yes, tire weights vary just like wheel weights, but you also need to think about tire load ratings. Our cars are heavy and want a 95 rating.

Most people use skinny tires because that is the current fashion and they don't care about handling, probably 235/35/19 on those is the most common but I would run 245 or 255. Tire Rack has weights for tires listed along with other specs like section and tread width for each size of each tire that they sell.

You mean stretched only on 8.5" wheels, right?
What about 235/35-19 on a set of 8" wheels like these?

is there such a thing as having "too much tire"....when i went to buy my set i was told 235 was the ideal size and that going 245 or 255 would mean degraded handling, increase wear, and poor MPG...he was making sense saying having too wide a tire can affect corner in/corner out, the tire shoulder being too soft, increased tire weight, too much of a contact patch on the road...ehhh he sold me lol i went with 235/35/19 for my 8.5 inch wide wheels.

Got pics? I'd like to see how stretched that looks, if at all.

BTW, the new S5 comes with 255/30-19 on 8.5" wheels.

I run 235/35r19 on my 8.5 wide wheels. Looks perfect IMO. Wheels fit perfectly flush with fenders, and no rubbing issues.

I am looking to buy some OEM rims and tires from a 2008 S6 with 265/35/19's. Will these fit a '04 S4 or too wide, rubbing issues? I can;t really find too much info on this size for the S4.

19x8.5 with h&r coil overs...you should be able to get everything dialed in pretty easy with your ohlins setup. dont know if you made the investment yet with your current setup but it definitely makes a difference to have adjustable upper control arms in the front too. dont wanna plow threw tires super fast with the upgraded suspension. but ive had 235-35-19 for a few years now and the ride is just fine! I like a sporty feel myself. if you want the caddy ride, get a caddy. but dont worry you can get it dialed with no rubbing issues and the ride is good even on shitty roads. my two cents. hope it helps man!

On a B6, you'll want 235/35R19 on either 8" or 8.5". 245 will likely rub on a B6, but not so much on a B7. 235/35R19 is the closest overall diameter to stock. The problem is load index. You will get 91 with 235/35R19 and need to inflate 3psi higher than what is on the door placard to get close to the correct load carrying capacity. I have a B6 and have 235/35R19 on 8.5" with Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I had Michelin PS2 before on these wheels. I have had no problems. You might be OK with 245 if you are not lowered, but it's going to be very tight everywhere. Also, I think the 245 set gives the appearance of being too big for the car (chunky).

I considered tire weight when I saw that they varied from 22lb to 28lb for the ones I was looking at. You'll feel that in the suspension - I tried a heavy tire once and it was awful. Tire Rack allows you to see all the specs for selected tires side by side.

255/35R19 is a factory tire size for the 8.5" wheels on the B8.

255 wide on 8" wheels works fine and has come stock on some cars too. The tire sticks out a little past the wheel but not much:

What offsets are you all referring to when you mention 19x8.5? ET38? I would imagine it is very relevant.
