fans not working but not overheating?

Radiator fan isn't working but the the car isn't overheating. The fans used to work all the time even when the car was idling at start up. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor that is between the engine block and the firewall not now the fans don't work at all. I rev the car high for a few minutes and the fans don't turn on.

I got a coolant leak on the the thermostat and it started spraying all over the engine bay.
I idle the car and i rev it high but the fans do not engage, unless i turn the ac on. Is there something wrong with the fans or is this normal? Which sensor engages the fans?
I am afraid the fans not working created a pressure point that caused a crack on the thermostat.

The coolant temp sensor will turn the fans on. If they're not coming on it's most likely the fans themselves. Do they come on if you turn the A/C on? If no, then it's definitely the fans.

Could also be the fan control module gone bad. Do the fans work if you hook them directly to a 12VDC source?

As long as the one of the two fans is working, the car will not over heat. For the longest I was running only on one fan, til earlier this year that one gave out, and my car over heated in the middle of the street.

Reving the engine has absolutely zero effect of the rad fans!

They are controlled by temp sensors and come on when the temp sensor senses a very specific temp, something like 230F.

It takes time for the engine to reach that operating temp, even sitting at idle, it can take 15-20 minutes!

Just let the car idle, open the hood, and watch the temp gauge on the cluster.

The fans should come one when the temp gauge goes slightly past half-way on the gauge.

Fans turning on at startup and running all of the time is a symptom of a bad CTS. Are you sure they aren't just staying off until they are needed now that the system is fixed?
