    Adaptive Brake Lights vag mod

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone seen what the adaptive brake lights do? I tried having someone capture my brake lights after driving by really fast and braking, but there isn't anything different happening and I know that the vag mod has been enabled.

I have them enabled on my 2013 A4. When you make a panic stop, the brake lights flash super fast like a strobe. This is only activated when you brake hard enough that the ABS kicks in.

Good question. I have LEDs, so I wonder if it works with those.

This mod will only work on a car with LED's. To test his safely, have someone watch you accelerate to about 60-70 mph, and stand on te brakes for a full panic stop. The whole test should only take about 7-8 seconds.

You have to pull the e-brake and hold for 3 sec. It will bring the car to a full stop.

If I have an emergency, I doubt I'll remember that. 3 seconds is an eternity during an emergency.

It will start to brake immediately, but it will release if you don't hold it down (or actually keep it pulled up). The lights will flash after the car has fully stopped to warn drivers behind you. Obviously you can hit your brakes first, then pull the e-brake also.

So the lights only flash when used with the ebrake? I can't imagine ever doing that, unless there's a catastrophic failure of the braking system (in which case I'll probably be more concerned about the poo in my pants than blinking my lights at other motorists).

I dont believe this. I had a friend follow me, and i literally slammed on the brakes 100% going around 60mph and the adaptive brake lights came on.

This works on just about any audi since the b7's, including non-led tail light cars.

You can believe me or not, but for others who are having trouble seeing it in action this is the way you can do it. I had trouble so I did it this way and it works. I never said you couldn't do it the normal way, but in the past others have had problems getting it to work so this method was suggested and it does work. It even works on the b8.5's that have the radar in the front to avoid collisions. I vag com'd another guys s4 and afterwards we went for some spirited driving. While accelerating if he got too close to the guy in front of him, his car would brake hard for a split second and his hazards and LEDs flashed.

i have that on my 09 prestige and it has almost killed me while changing lanes on the highway so i disabled it
if you change lanes and are within 5 -7 ft of his bumper while lane changing it will panic apply brakes. it has to be the most unsettling feeling ever having a car brake and you not initiate it

Does anyone have video of this in action on a non-LED car? I enabled it on my Avant but would like to know what it looks like.

I couldn't tell if those were LEDs or not, I assumed not since that video is not from North America. If that's what they look like, then great!

Yeah you're right- I watched the video 3 or 4 times but for some reason wasn't thinking clearly. They definitely look like the regular lights.

I have this activated on my '13 allroad and have not been able to get them to activate on a panic/emergency stop. Like someone said earlier with the e-brake...... I can't see myself doing that in an emergency stop.
