Anybody use "Sports Mode" in there A4?

I haven't really fiddled around with the sports mode in my 05 cab(3.0). Since it's supercharged I was wondering how that would factor out. Do you feel a lot more power in sports mode, or do the gears just downshift slower? How much would mpg suffer, and is it worth it? Thanks :)

Sport mode on the automatic transmissions speeds up shifts, shifts later, and downshifts sooner.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the 3.0 in your A4 isn't supercharged.

I find that the sport mode will keep in gear longer. Example: if you come around a turn in 3rd gear at 5K rpm and let off the gas to brake or coast a few sec to slow and then jump back on the gas, it is still in that 3rd gear, instead of up shifting. Atleast that's the way I feel with mine.

But anyways, Recently I started driving my 1.8t automatic in the S mode... and it is just a lot smoother and more responsive.

Would you guys suggest for it or against it. I would imagine there would be settings where it's more appropriate.

It's there to use. I say go for it. My only concern would be your supercharged motor. Heard the tune that PES supplied was known for poppin motors. Then PES makes your motor a POS, haha I kid (the pos part)

Hahaha, I really need to look into that tune. But I really wouldn't know where to begin or how costly it would be.

I typically don't like to sit at higher RPMs for a long time for no reason, so I don't use it too often. I use it from time to time when I want people to think my stock 3.0 is fast

Also, you used the wrong "there" in your title. You were looking for "their". I'm destined to teach high school English, I know it, and I hate it.

Well I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you a citation. Don't let it happen again.

I'd find out if you have the early PES tune or the later PES tune, or get someone to do custom tuning for you. You can search for it, but I think the basics are, PES started their G3 kit with a GIAC tune. It wasn't great, but did the job. I've read that it ran a little rich at the top end, but otherwise wasn't bad. There was some sort of falling out between PES and GIAC, and they started selling the kits with their own tune. It switched things around at the top end and rather than being rich, it ran lean, too lean. That is how motors went bad AFAIK. There shouldn't be any problem driving with it in 'S', just be mindful of your RPMs and you should be fine.

Probably the most constructive thing I've gotten so far. Thanks pal, I'll figure out some way to look into it.

I use either drive or put it in "manual" mode.

Sport mode is dumbfounded and searches for gears too often. I used it very few times and never liked it.

Couple of dudes on this forum grenaded their engines back in the day when PES was using that garbage tune you're referring to.
