Have Wincos tint installed and I HATE IT!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Over a week ago I got Wincos tint installed. I did my research (or so I thought I did), looked for reviews, pictures, etc... At the shop (The Darkside Window Tint, Lake City, WA) the owner showed me some samples that he said were similar, all of which were a neutral gray.
I figured, perfect - it wont match the sunroof tint exactly in color, but itll be close enough.
Well, bottom line, Madico Wincos is BLUE and HAZY as all hell!!! At first I thought it was a by product of the adhesive curing, but after a week and a half in warm weather and being in the sun it hasn't cleared up at all.
the blue color is gimmicky and not my style at all. Its disgusting to say the least.

Im going to call the installer today and ask what he can do because I feel led astray and I am not happy with the product he provided.

In general, has anyone had any experience in tint shops re-doing or replacing film with a different type? He offers one other line of Madico film for automotive which I have used before but wasn't 100% happy with either since it looked "lumpy" looking through it. I wont be accepting that film on my car either.

I'd be happy with him removing it for free and cutting my losses and taking my car elsewhere...

Look for Llumar film if you want a match. It is the best film in the game. They hold their installers to very high standards. You can also pick up the top of the line 3m which is comparable
    Best regards,
    Sean.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone
bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

Madico films are very good films, don't let anyone tell you any different. They are the longest manufacturer in the business. I've never heard of the Wincos line but I have used the Charcool films on all of my Audi's (5 of them) and have been very happy every single time. No lumping, great match to the sunroof, and wonderful heat rejection properties.

I would blame the shop that sold you the film more than the manufacturer. Also, if you did your research you would have noted that Wincos is a "window cosmetic" film which probably means colored. Right from their website:

Premium cars require matching performance from their windows. Wincos “Window Cosmetics” Automotive films pair natural beauty with sound scientific research for the ultimate in window film style and performance.

Achieve high heat rejection without the look of dark, tinted windows with Wincos Automotive Films

I've used Auto Tint in Tukwila for my last 3 cars and they've been in business for over 30 years. You can check them out they'd most likely be able to get what you want.

I just got Madico CharCOOL 20% a few days ago, I'm beyond happy with it. I wouldn't blame the film, the installer is what you should worry about in my opinion.

Well I called my installer and he is willing to fix it. No hassle and he didn't talk money, just that he will need the car all day to remove the old film and put in Charcoal film, if I am happy with that product on my car.
I've brought about $3-3.5k worth of my business to him not including referrals to friends. He is a good business owner and has been at it for more than two decades.

Im sorry I don't have any pictures. Ill try and snap some before my appointment next week and hopefully I can capture this haze that is just an absolute no-no. Its easy to catch the blue-ish color.
I will say that the Wincos is very good at rejecting heat. Driving out in the high plains this weekend I can tell a huge difference from the sun coming from the windshield vs what was coming out of the side windows. But asthetically, its horrible.

Ive seen allroads in person with Pinnacle film and I know its not the stock glass. The pinnacle looked really nice.

Oh, and thank you for the pictures Pixel!

here are some pics ( I hope this works)
    This is Very Blue:

Hazy. I caught the sunroof glass to get a comparison of the clarity:

Some haze, noticeable around the mirrors. Very hard to catch on camera but there is this seemingly milky film:

Awful!!!! I went huper optik, it's incredible! I've actually had people pull up next to me and ask what tint/where I got it done. I would say its a true balance between shop install process, knowledge of product application, and actual products used. Like 60% shop know how and 40% proper product choice

What % Wincos did you get? I have 45 - it's a little blue, doesn't seem nearly as bad as what you've posted. It looks like the factory tint from Mercedes but not quite as blue...
