    Suspension Creaking/Popping Noise

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
2012 S4 with the base suspension (not adjustable). Within the last few weeks, the car makes a creaky suspension noise when turning, especially on bumps. Happens at all speeds, most noticeable when going slow in parking lots. It sounds both like creaking and kind of a popping sound. Car has 20k miles, thoughts?

Yea I am noticing this too seems to be a clunking sound when turning slowly entering or exiting the drive way. Mines started to become present after a wheel barring replacement. I will be mentioning this to them as well on my next service as well as asking for them to do a spark plug change. 65K must be good time for that.

I believe there are other threads on this and it was found that there is a break in for the ball joints or something and this is normal... also check the torque on your lugs - that sometimes causes clicking popping noises.

Since I'm at 20k miles, I don't think mine is break in related. I'm more concerned it's something that's wearing out prematurely. Interestingly, mine sounds like its coming from the driver's side front. Usually when I start the car up its pretty much quiet at first, and gets worse the longer the car is driven, especially in the heat. Curious what you find out tomorrow..

I have the same problem on my S5 with only 1500 miles. There are a few threads on this. Generally the sound comes from the front suspension, a soft clanking sound usually when I go over a speed bump while on the brakes or turn left tor right on an incline such as a driveway. the sound is not always there but seems to come after several miles of driving. Had my suspension checked at an independent shop (mine is a gray market import) and subframe mounts retorqued but the sound persists.

There's a TSB on this and this website has the TSBs but you have to pay to register and get access.

    https://www.eautorepair.net/app/TSBS...=15&VID=114629

The TSB is listed: 2027295 Clacking noises at load change: S4, S5 (B(8) with S tronic issued 2011-09-09.

    Can somebody extract this TSB?

Had my right front ball joint replaced last week for a similar issue.

Had a light ding/clicking noise coming form the wheel well when then the wheel was turned to lock in either direction.

I have the click when turning to full lock now after the dealer replaced my wheel bearing. I am getting end links tightened and replaced on Wed and if the click persists I will go in and ask them to check out ball joint.

Guys, when you go to your dealer to have the noise checked out, may I ask that you request the service advisor to print this TSB for you. Since my car is a gray market import (from the USA), if I bring it to the official dealer I need to pay approximately 2000 US dollars to register the car with them. I brought the car to a good independent shop who checked everything out and retorqued everything but the noise seems to be even worse. Its my first Audi and its pretty disappointing to hear this clunking noises in an expensive German car with 1500 miles. Everything else about the car has been wonderful except for this suspension problem
