Wheels - replica oem vs oem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all - I am looking into getting some new wheels for the car. I really love the look of the new RS6 wheels, and want to get a set of them in 19" and use the stock 18" rims and all-season tires that came with the car during the winter.

Also what is the widest tire I can fit on this car? Can I Run 265's or 275's all around? Is there any specific offset I need or anything else or should it be a direct fit?

My other question is this: does it really make a difference aside from the huge price difference to buy a set of replica OEM wheels vs Real OEM. Do they weigh the same? Will the replica wheels crack or break during aggressive driving?

Here is a sample of the look I am going for. My new 2013 is black/black so if anyone has any other suggestions please post a picture and the details as I am new to the whole rims and tires upgrading.

Also Here is what they look like in black. I was thinking about getting black ones as well but i just decided they are a bit too much.

These rims are avail in 18",19" or 20". Can this car fit 20" wheels?!?

Re: Wheels - replica oem vs oem

Not sure on sizes etc. But I had a set of Audi R8 reps on my mk5 Golf. They looked great although reps are generally heavier. Although I had no cracks or any damage whatsoever. I do know that BMW fake wheels are generally better quality as the OEM ones are so lightweight that they crack a lot. So I'm sure you would be fine with reps if you buy ones from a decent manufacturer.

i think you should get them in silver, much nicer than the black and you can always plastidip them black if you want that look. not exactly sure on the widest, i do know some members on here might run 275s but thats prob the max, and thats with a lot of precise fitment. and yes you can run 20's but i would recommend 19s, i think 19s look perfect sizewise proportional to the rest of the car, and also with 20s you'll have thin tires and risk bending/cracking even more, and i see you're in NY so trust me you dont want that headache, even 19s are risky but 20s are gonna be tough and you'll be having to drive all cautious all the time.

get 19s and i would get the oem replicas, costs way less and worth it. if you get it from a good vendor like modbargains, oemwheelsplus, hartmann replicas, they are all good quality and i believe might come with some sort of warranty as well for cracking/bending. but yea get the replicas, you can prob buy 2 sets for the price of the oem ones, just save the extra money for more mods or something.

The car in the first post is running 20"... And yes, the B8 has no problem with 20". 19" looks to small.

Why on earth would you run 275 or 265?! :-O

My set up is 245/30-20 on 9x20 ET 39 lowered quite a bit, and I have no problems whatsoever.

    I've run 275's and 265's.
OEM wheels tend to be heavier.
Black always looks dirty and you can't see the design of the wheel unless it's in bright sunlight...go gunmetal if you don't want silver, it's aggressive yet classy.

Thanks guys! TCHUN003 - you are running a staggered set up? I would think with the Quattro system that a staggered setup would cause massive under-steer.

So for 19" rims should they be 19x8 or 19x8.5? I'm not sure what width to go with.

Is there any special offset I need or anything else t take into consideration?

I'm not running staggered, I've just run both sizes before. BTW, if you have wider tires or have spacers up front, you would have less understeer. Not sure what is offered in the reps you are looking at, but 19x10 et38-40 with a 255/35/19 tire would be a perfect setup for our cars. For a 19x8.5 with a similar look, you would need an offset of 18-20 with a 215/40/19 tire.

Take a look atAchtuning for Hartmann wheels. Just as good as OEM, at half the price. They all conform to TUV standards.

    http://shop.achtuning.com/Hartmann-W...udi-B8-A4.aspx

I have purchased several of wheels sets from these guys, and they are of very high quality. Can't go wrong.

Give them a call, and they will answer all of your questions.

And as for staggered setups...read this:

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=18

Too much difference will put undo strain on the quattro system.

    A big giant THIS.

I've bought two sets of Hartmann reps from Achtuning (winter and summer setup). Those wheels are top notch in terms of quality and strength.
