    B8 A4 Sport Package - Details

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,

I tried to do some searching but only came up with some details; however,I have some more questions (if you find something that was posted, I suck then LOL). I got my A4 with the sport package. Other than a different steering wheel, different seats; I know the shocks and springs are different, but compared to what in the aftermarket? Am I correct on the springs are comperable to the H&R OE Sport springs? What about the shocks?

It sounds like the rear sway bar is the same as what comes on a S-Line; true? What about the front sway bar?

Lastly, are there any drive train components different from a stock A4?

    Thanks in advance,
    -Eric

The sport package adds a 3 spoke wheel, sport seats, and sport suspension. The sport suspension is about .5-.75in lower than stock non-sport. The S-Line has the same sport suspension. There are no drivetrain differences. H&R OE Sport springs are still lower and stiffer than the sport package.

front and rear sway bars, i believe are same on sports/s-line/s4

as for the springs, the sports/s-line/s4 are about 20mm (~0.75in) lower than stock non-sport, same on s-line as well. but H&R OE springs are about ~30mm (1.2in) lower than stock non-sport.

shocks are still sports shocks and can be paired with lowering springs without issues, the non-sport shocks cant be used with springs too low or they'll blow out prematurely, but the sports shocks will handle them nicely. not sure what you'd compare them to, i guess just w/e the cheapest sports shocks you can find from Koni or similar reputable brand. but yea pretty much the sports shocks+springs are still slightly less aggressive than any of the popular aftermarket options you'll find on here.

The sway bars on a Sport package A4 are the same as the S4 at 19.5mm, the part numbers are the same. THe next size up is the RS5's which are 22.5mm. The springs and shocks are different from the S4's, and the car sits about 0.9 inches lower than a stock A4. The springs and shocks are also about 20% firmer than a non sport suspension.

I've had the sport package on both my 2010 A4 and my new 2013, and love them both. For the the Facelifted 2013 cars however, Audi has redesigned the suspension geometry slightly.

Having test driven both versions, I can only give my rather subjective view that the non-sport version is way too soft.

Are you planning on adding aftermarket suspension? I love the seats, especially on long drives just extend the front part. Also the steering wheel is gives you a sense of occasion when you get in at least I like it. I have ADS on my car and have had problems with the shocks(2 rear replaced @ around 8k), but stared having issues around 5500km. IMO the oem hits bumps way too hard all the time, feels loose when going over bumps, and comfort is just bouncy. Compared to older bilstein sport shocks I have on an old merc, I'd rather have the Bil's. If you go with the sports package and decide to change shocks, you'll have to buy an ads error cancelling kit. I'm getting rid of my suspension next week to put on bilstein b16 erc's, but I'm super picky. Just changed my exhaust again cause I wanted a different sound

Is the Sport Package available on the Premium Plus (middle of the the line) model? The build your own option on the Audi web site lists it as an option, but for some reason you can't select it. Not sure if it's a bug on the web site or if you have to upgrade to the Prestige model to choose the sport package. On the A5, you can choose the sport package on the Premium Plus model.

Yes, it is available on Premium Plus. The new Audi website is just buggy at the moment.

(I apolagize Allowencer for using your thread) but if i have a base A4 and am installing H&R OE Sport springs, is the only option to keep the Electronic dampening to go with the Sport suspension shocks? or are there any companies that offer this aftermarket?

    Appreciate your insight Liquid Smoke

In EU you can buy audi like lego, if first owner so to say, as I see you have black interior roof, but no sline, so first owner did "special" order like LEGO:)
