    C7 S6-Getting 20x10 et35 rims. Go with 255/35 or 275/35 square setup?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I really want Continental ExtremeContact DW tires and they come 255/35 (backordered) or 275/35 (in stock). On a 10" rim, the 255 seems stretched. Should I have any rubbing issues with the 275's? I realize with the 275's the speedometer will be off by about 2-3 mph and I'm ok with that.

    Wheels will be AG M510 20 x 10 ET35.

The 255 section width tire most definitely will be stretched on a 10" wide rim. FWIW, all the 10" rim setups I've seen posted all run stretched tires. The ET35 offset pushes the rim out 4mm more than my setup (yours will be 29mm outward compared to stock) and the rim will stick out past the fender slightly. Based on this I think a 275/35 will rub sometimes. Can the folks at Avant Garde give you fitment advice?

Amy particular reason for the Conti? Michelin comes out with the new PSA S3 in July 1
    That will blow it away.

I would suggest do the M510 in 9" width not
10" and go 255s. And go michelins.

    10=more concave
Continental EC DW=excellent performance and treadlife for $100 Less per tire than Michelin PSS.

I would stick with the 9. Not the 10.

That said I would hope a Conti AS tire cost 100 less than a PSS! That said, I suggested the PSAS3 that comes on July 1

For decades the only tires I would use were Michelins. A couple of years ago I switched form PS AS to PS AS Plus on both my car and my wife's. They were so bad that I doubt if I ever use Michelin again. Both sets were toast at 10-12 K and rode like rocks. I've switched to Continental EC DWs and so far am very happy. They ride nicer and certainly handle better than the Mich. AS tires.

Go with the 10" M510 especially on the 6 platform. 9" is weak, plus not available 8.5" is only other option. 255 will provide a mild stretch nothing major. 275 will rub IMO. Also wheels will not stick out past fenders up front, and in the rear sit flush. With 255 no rubbing issues ive been running these for months. 20x10 et 35 255/35/20 here are some angles.

I'm running a set of AG Wheels as well with a 20x10 et35 setup and my michelin PSS 2s barely rub in the rear and the fronts are sitting fine for now. Personally I think I need a different offset in order to take advantage of a wider tire setup.

What size tires are you running? As stated, the only other 20" offered in this wheel that could work is 8.5" wide which isn't a consideration for me.

BTW, The Extreme Contact DW is not an all season tire.

The Michelin PS A/S 3 does sound like a nice tire though. I think I'm gonna wait until July.

I was originally thinking of going with 20"x10" wheels, but I think I'm going with 20"x9.5" instead and run 265/35/20...

Good call. I have the PSAS3 coming for my A4 also in 245/45/17 as well. This will be Michelin's A/S response for its Benchmark PSS when your car has summer UHP tire needs, which my S7 does....and those are coming to me in 265/30/21 also.

You may want to stop by AG and test fit the wheels. With the size of our front brakes, low offset is pretty difficult.

This brings up a good topic though. Offset. What is the lowest offset people are running that clears the brakes? I know the stock 19" S7 wheel is ET32.

I know on the H&R A7 running 21" rotors with a 265/30/21 tire those are ET45 and H&R added an 18mm spacer for an effective offset of ET27, however the A7 brakes are not nearly as large.

As of now I am planning on ET30 on a forged 21x9 with 265/30/21 PSS.

Need to get behind my wheel and find an effective way to measure caliper clearance with my current ET32 offset on stock 19" wheels.

When the offset is low, it really comes down to wheel/spoke design and the only way to tell is with test fitment. I wouldn't waste your time with painstaking measurements.

Just for reference, here is a fender shot of a 20x9.5 ET39 with a 265/35/20 Michelin PSS....

    From the rear looking forwards....

IMO, 20x10 at a 35mm offset is a tad too aggressive. You may get away with it with 255s due to stretch, but I would actually go with a 275/30/20 tire, and a higher offset. A 255 on a 10" wheel is not optimal and if you are going to spend the $$$$ on aftermarket, why do what is less than optimal?

this thread is super old. OP prop already made his purchase. ET35 on a 20x10 is going to stick out of the fender. using this offset calculator http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator# that would be like putting on 30mm spacers on the OEM wheels. Most people are running 15-20mm spacers and just 1 guy (that i saw) was running 25mm in the rear... put he wasnt super low

well, i guess i will double check with them since it wont hurt... but they did tell me the 20x10 +45 will fit. they even steered me away from +35 offset because they didnt think it would fit right, but im guessing that has more to do with the fender than the brakes

I was also told this by several vendors when I went through this process.

I would recommend 20x9.5 et 35-39. Of course it all depends on the look you are trying to achieve.
just got off the phone with rohana and they said the +45 does not clear the brakes :(....... well, thank you for warning me about this and helping me avoid a big headache
the guy i spoke to pointed me to the +33 offset, but i think might stick out too much or rub since im a little lower than most S6's. I have it lowered by vagcom and lowering link. he showed me pics of another S6 (diff wheel, same size 20x10+33)

i want that concave look, but maybe i need to go with a staggered wheel setup and go 9"wide in the front and 10 in the rear... or go with 20x10+33 all around and get the fenders rolled/ massaged. thoughts?

Lol $lick, you went to town on the quoted posts.

I bumped this because for my own knowledge, not to help the OP. I'm debating getting some 20x10" AG wheels, and I would prefer to use my barely worn pzeros rather than spend another $1300 on PSSs at the moment. I hate stretch and the earlier posts looks no bueno IMO, but the one I posted looks reasonable.

i don't think there's that much to roll on the fender, it seemed pretty flat when I looked at it. only option would be to flare them out a little.

maybe you can find a local s7 member who has a set of wheels you can test fit.

edit: fronts can be rolled, the rears are flat.
