    Hello Audizine!

This is my first post. I am looking at buying my first Audi.
This is a silver a5 3.2 2009, s-line, nav, has 50k miles on it. Private sale.

Has no warranty but one owner.

Please let me know how are the maintainance costs and repairs.
Not at all familiar with audi service. Are there any major services?
Infiniti requires oil change/service every 7500 miles.
Also, should i buy extended warranty?
How is 3.2 engine reliability and support?

    Thanks!
    C.H

Welcome! Monza Silver? Maintenance cost and repairs are in line with any other car. No real issues or needs. Love my 3.2. Price is pretty good but $27.5k would be better:)

On the opposite side, I just sold my 2009 3.2 in January for $34K. It was in immaculate condition with low miles.

Just so the OP has the range.

And damn you ripped someone a new one . Some will pay up for a very clean low mileage car. I would not be willing to take twenty anything for mine as it sits.

He was a partner at a law firm. I have a clear conscience. Seriously though, your car would garner much more than mine did!

no problems with my '08 3.2 full equipped except some defective control arms back when new which took forever for AoA to figure that out and replace those under warranty. If you have the technology package with the advanced key.. the door sensors tend to fail often. Regular recommended maintenance is a must to assure all works good. I still have the original rear brakes at 60k miles. Great engine, plenty of power, great MPGs, still turning heads even after 5 years. I will be selling mine soon, unsure at this point in time on whether to go through the private sale hassle or just trade it in.

$29k for a 2009? is it full equipped? Auto or Manual? S-Line package? I've had offers up to $28k a few months ago on my full equipped A5 3.2 in very good condition in and out.

    Thanks for the response guys.

Now I know the ball park $ figure. Yes, it is a fully loaded car.

How often does it need the recommended oil change ( every ??? miles?)

Are there any major services that are gonna come up since it touched 50k miles mark?

If they haven't done it already cause its usually the 55k service then its a major one (well according to the dealer). Not just an oil change they replace the spark plugs, oil change, among other things here is the maintenance schedule for 2009 right on there website http://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/a...-Year-2009.pdf. I live in North Jersey and my dealer wanted $890.00 for this service which is way out of line I almost fell outta my chair when they told me this. I have seen on the forums as low as $499.00 which is still overpriced. You can purchase the full service kit from places like ECS tuning or just have your local trusted mechanic look at what needs to be done and have him get the parts separately, you will save a lot even if its something that you can't do yourself.

    For reference...

I just bought an 09 S5 with 50k miles w/warranty (CPO) for 34K. Might be worth a look around if you prefer the S models, or can increase your budget a bit.

s5 would be a stretch for me. Cannot find any under 40$k here in the bay area.

Also, Can you tell me what are the things to be checked on the car before I finalize it. Are there any problem areas to look into on the 3.2 engine? ( Is there a checklist that I can go through)

Any a5 specific issues to look at? I should find a mechanic to check the car.

    Thanks guys!

I have a 2008 A4 3.2, Ocean Blue Pearl Titanium, S-Line, Sport, 6MT that I bought new. It has 55K miles on it now. $45k new in 2008.
    I also just picked up a 2010 S5 4.2 with under 15K miles, Prem+, 6MT, Rear Sport Diff. $40k 2 months ago.

My A4 has the RS4 rear sway bar and 19" wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
My S5 has Ecode Tuning front and rear sway bars, Alu Kreuz, 19" wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
I mod for handling first, then go from there, so with that in mind, here's my opinion...

A used A5 would be very similar to my A4 and a used S5 would be very similar to my S5.
There really is no comparison between the A5 and the S5, so I'd recommend the S5 if you can find one in your price range.
I'd recommend a 2010 or newer so you can get the rear sport differential (prem+) or Audi Drive Select (prestige).

Both '5s are real lookers but I think the B8 S5 is a notch above the B8 A5 in looks, YMMV.
If you enjoy driving the manual transmission, you have to get the 6MT. If you enjoy driving the automatic transmission, avoid the tiptronic and get an S-tronic/DSG (dual clutch automatic transmissions that are very smooth and very quick).

The pros for the A - A spirited drive, slightly higher MPG, a bit lighter steering wheel feel, and a bit lighter car weight feel.
The cons for the A - A bit under-powered, not as solid of a car (compared to the S5) feel but very polished.

The pros for the S - A very spirited drive, more power, more torque.
The cons for the S - slightly lower MPG, a bit heavier feel to the car.

You have to set your own priorities, or get both an A5 and an S5.
2008 A4 B7 3.2 Quattro 6MT, S-Line, Titanium, Ocean Blue Pearl, Prem BOSE, Cold, Conv, Volterra Leather, BT, iPod

2008 A6 Avant 3.2 Quattro 6AT, S-Line, Night Blue Pearl, Prem, Nav, Milano Leather, Cold, iPod

    2010 S5 Prem+ 6MT, Brilliant Red, Black/Platinum, B&O, Nav, Sport Rear Diff, Mods...

Def have a mechanic familiar with euros put it on a lift etc and look it over if at all possible. Exterior wise, the S5 and A5 s-line are the same car minus the rear valence (which can be swapped) and the deck lid (which most are not even aware of or would notice).

Ah, I'm in the Bay Area too. There were two at Sonnen Audi and the Infiniti dealer across the freeway, both for 34k. They're out there!

    But good luck either way!
