    Dirty Beige Tan Interior

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just recently purchased a 2008 a4 with the tan interior. Unfortunately both the steering wheel and the shift knob have a blackish film on them from dirty or oily hands. Is there any good cleaner to get rid of the blackness or am i better on just buying a new steering wheel and shift knob. I know for some this is minimal worry, but im extremely picky when it comes to my interiors and want everything in Pristine condition.

Also am having trouble finding the shift knob online. I know audi would have them but wanted to shop around first. Anybody know the part number for the Beige 6 Speed Manual shift knob?

    Thanks

I just bought a tube of Armor-all leather wipes to clean the gunk and nastiness off my steering wheel and shift knob when I bought my car. YMMV on a tan interior though, mine is black.

Try some leather cleaner/conditioner. Also Detailersdomain has loads of good stuff that can probably take care of some of the problem for you

Use some leather cleaner along with a soft brush to get in there and remove the gunk. I did this a few days ago on my B5 with grey leather and it made them look brand new! Make sure you follow up the cleaning with some good leather conditioner.

Thanks for the replies. I will most definitely look into some cleaners and conditioners.

Dont put armor all on leather, specially dyed leather. You will loose the color. Someone here showed his steering wheel loosing it's color because of armor all, and i experienced the same thing with my Jetta.

Good question. I just found the thread I started back then and apparently I used the cleaning wipes for dash, but I haven't used any of the Armorall products since then except the wheel protectant spray which I think is awesome.

And before you buy anything else for cleaning the steering wheel I would try just water, you'd be surprised of the result. I used water to clean my leather seats with great results, this after I tried some expensive products from a detailer estore(sponsor here, I forgot their name).

Moist microfiber towel, followed by a good conditioner. I personally do not like armor all products.

    Thanks.

^^ yes, the car came with that shift know and I love it. I don't know the part number. I think the early years had that knob than they changed it with yours.

Was the trim and S4 steering wheel pretty big bucks? I've previously ONLY liked Audi blk. interiors until yours. Looks real nice.

That's definitely what a used car salesman would call it, yes. ;)

I was lucky to find the S4 Steering wheel for $200 on eBay, it was brand new. The trim is wrapped in carbon fiber wrap so that was like $20
