Tool to remove a wheel's center cap?

Putting a coat hanger through the hole and pulling didn't work for me. They're pretty stuck on there and bent the hanger back each time. I tried prying from the lug nuts, but they're not actually attached to the nuts themselves, and I thought I might snap one of the edges off.

I'm trying to clean the brake dust off of them.

Yup. Remove the spare and the plastic cover to reveal the jack and the tools and it will be there. It's a silver circle with a small hook on the end. Takes 2 seconds to pop them off.

I'm assuming if you failed to remove them through the appropriate hole with a coat hanger than the tool in the trunk may not work either. I've also tried using a nail, bending the last few centimeters with a pair of pliers to a right angle, and that worked fine. Coat hanger may be a little too easily bent.
