Check the lock settings in the MMI under CAR.

The driver door should be the first one to unlock. The MMi settings allow for only the driver door with one push (other doors take 2 pushes) or all doors with one push.

What happens if you hit the button 2 times? Des it unlock then? How many keys did you get? If you have multiple, does it work the same way with the other fob? Have you tried changing the battery in the key fob?

I have the same problem, it happens from time to time and its so annoying. Only happens to the divers door. I went to the dealership and they told me its the mechanical part and it costs 300$. I didn't do it since it doesn't always happen, but at one point I will need to. You can put your ear next to the door and a noise should be heard that the key button triggers the mechanism but the door is not opened by it. A small vibration near the door handle can be felt also. This was my case, but it seems very similar to yours. Good luck!

If u you hit the button twice it does the same thing. All other doors will unlock but the driver side. I have 2 fobs and they both do the same thing, I haven't changed the battery of the fob yet but I'm going to give it a try. Funny thing is it was working when I picked up the car and by the time I got home it stopped working.

Like ekkoman said, you can hear a sound coming from the handle like it trying to work but nothing engages.

At least yours works after you lock it again. Mines still doesn't work after I lock and unlock u can clearly hear a sound but nothing pops open. Do you guys think this could be a weak sign of a car battery?

It's not a big problem. Have that mechanism replaced and it will be ok! It's not a battery problem, otherwise it will not affect just the driver door always

I have the same problem on my 2006 4.2 V8 A6. All other doors unlock and lock with the remote. I also have the convenience entry where it unlocks the doors by having the remote nearby and just putting your hand underneath the handle and it unlocks that door.

Mine was intermittent and now even with new remote batteries the drivers side door will not unlock or lock with the remote or by putting your hand underneath the handle. All other door locks work fine with remote and hand underneath.

Has anyone found a fix for this. Does replacing the drivers side door mechanism fix this problem? If so what's the parts needed?

I checked both the 39 entry and 44 advanced key fuses and both look fine. I checked the MMI settings and all is good.

The remote will lock all the doors and unlock all the doors except the front drivers side door. The advanced key knowledge's that my hand is underneath the front drivers side door each time I put my hand underneath the door handle by the lights flashing but still will not unlock. All the 3 other doors work fine when I put my hand underneath as well as the trunk...so annoying. Has anyone found a fix for this? Part number? What they did? Did it solve the issue?

The dealer replaced the driver door actuator and it has solved the problem. hope this helps.
