California Tint - Bay Area

hey ya'll i'm moving out to california this fall, Bay Area, and wanted to know what the deal with tint is there. I'm about to get tinted and wanted to know what to get. I thought i saw 70 on the front windows???

So what do you guys have, and have you got tix for it.

You cant have any tint on the front windows, and whatever you want on the back.. No windshield either..

I had 35% all the way around on my old car, and about the same on my car now.. Ive been pulled over once in the last 4 years for tint..

it all depends on the cops. to my knowledge, you're not supposed to tint the front windows at all... but you can get away with a light tint in the front and darker tint in the back.

I got silver/black tint and so far i haven't got any sh*t from the cops. *** knock on wood ***

I believe the legal tint % is something like 80% which basically is nothing. Like Lucky said it all depends on the cops ans wellas what area you are in. I had my A4 tinted 35% front and 20% in back when i had it

When i had my 95 Honda Accord, I had all windows tinted 5% and when i got pulled over, they gave me a fix-it and wanted it removed. it's always nice to have former high school friends phone #'s... especially when they're cops.

I got a fix it ticket on my tints towards the end of April (and I just had it tinted 20% all around a week before) in Daly City... I know some of my friends' dads are cops but they all are in SF- do they have to be cops from San Mateo county? Sound stupid but I do not want to fix my tints, just have to be more careful next time.

i have only 50% all around on my other car and i never have problems. but it's 50%. my friend owns a tint shop and only recommend 50% if you do the front windows.

i dont think it matters where the officer is from. as long as they're an officer of the law.

actually it does matter. i got a parking ticket in SF and my friend from Daly City PD couldnt do anything about it. Has to be within the region he belongs to i guess...

Damn, thanks though. A friend was telling me something very similar except it was a speeding ticket.

Legal tint for front windows are 85%..im pretty sure,
i just came back from a tint place and they had
piece of glass with % of tints....

85%..u can barely see that its tinted
i might try around 75% if they have that

doctors note will make front window tints legal.

I've been lucky with 50% up front even with a motorcycle cop next to me several times.

I've had a CHP ticket for no front plate and tints, signed off by a officer in Albany, CA of all places. Worked just fine for me.... The ticket was issued when I was driving in SF, too.
