Need Help - Wobble Bolt got too much wobble!!

Posted this in the wheels forum also but seems like these not alot of traffic there..

I'm trying to install 5x114 rims on my 5x112 hub using wobble bolts. I have a set of Works rims that have a smaller bolt hole for M12 studs, I drilled the bolt hole using a 5/8 bit to give me enough room to fit the M14 bolt through and allow the wobble bolt to move around.

BUT, my concern is the amount of contact area the tapered cone on the wobble bolt makes with seat area on the rim (excuse the crappy cell phone pics)

Something tells me this isn't very safe, can anyone else using wobble bolts chime in here?

    **Added better pics**

This isn't relevant to your post specifically. But I've been running 5x114.3 wheels for a long time now, direct bolt on with a 12mm stud conversion. The 14-12mm studs give you the extra 2mm of room when mounting the wheels. As long as you torque everything down properly, i've never had an issue. (I'm also running spacers on this same setup, and hub centric rings, all without issue)

I launch my car occasionally, and am not afraid to beat the hell out of my car. Occasional spirited parking lot donuts and things for fun at my buddies shop. Never had any problems.

Something to think about. Sorry i'm no help with your specific problem. GL

Looks to me like you have 2 different angles of taper on the bolts, causing you to have a much smaller point of contact.

This seems like such a simpler / cleaner way. Something about wobble bolts gives me the creeps. Which 14-12 kit?

Also, how about simply having them professionally re-drilled and sleeved?

I know ringer-racing sells a 14-12 stud kit, thats where I got mine. I believe he recently came out with a longer version so you could run spacers if you wanted to.

You'll be fine. Ran 5x114 on Audi for three plus years with wobbles even spacers (tricky).
No issues, I feel you though just want to be safe.
    It’s not rocket science it’s a car.

I'm also planning on 14 to 12 conversion with skinny cone seat lugs...wheels are professionally redrilled but didn't know about this sleeve thingy... What does it do? Please explain...

Just for peace of mind and better mating surface to seat. They drill / press in metal sleeves into the new hole pattern for the lugs to fit / seat more securely as they would normally.

I got mine from Ringer-Racing too. I actually just removed my original stud kit and ordered their longer version too so I can run spacers. Been running the longer ones with spacers just fine for a while now.
