    JM&A Group for extended warranty?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I purchased a 3year/38k mile warranty when I purchased my 2009 Audi A4. A couple months passed and I wasn't to sure on what types of modifications that can be done that won't void my warranty. So I called my dealership and asked a simple question, "what modifications won't void my warranty", and as for a reply I got that any modifications would void my warranty. So I asked them who the 3rd party company was that my extended warranty was purchased through and it turned out to be JM&A group.

I asked them the same question and found out that I can do certain modifications but it they were to cause problems after, then my warranty for whatever problem they are causing would be voided. Now I live in Danbury, CT and my dealership is called Danbury Audi. Why did my dealership not tell me the truth about my warranty? I was told that any modification would void the entire warranty, and the 3rd party warranty company themselves told me only a certain part of the warranty would be voided if the modification was causing problems.

Does anyone body else have this extended warranty from this company? If so do you know what modifications can be done that they allow until a certain point?

    Thanks :)

    I read my contract....

Exclusion #1 basically say's they won't pay for any alternations to the vehicle that caused damage and it doesn't say that they will void my warranty.

you are getting different answers because the people you are talking to don't really know the answer
JMandA is a broker for aftermarket insurances and warranties and that warranty is underwritten by Fidelity.
As far as I can tell, there is no specific language about modifications to your car but I would assume that it would
mirror the regulations of the Audi warranty.

Also there are different coverage levels too so if you only have powertrain than feel free to mod away on your suspension
becuase that stuff would not be covered anyway.

well ok then just think of it as an extension of the Audi warranty.

one problem... I don't know anything about Audi's warranty since this is my first Audi ever, but it sounds like your saying that I should avoid doing mods because audi's actual warranty is strict when it comes to mods? Am i right or wrong?

Maybe you should do some research about warranties and extended warranties. It sounds like you did not even bother to read what is covered in YOUR OWN WARRANTY.

I know what is COVERED IN MY OWN WARRANTY, SMART ASS. WHY DO YOU THINK I'm ASKING ABOUT IT? IF YOU READ IT RIGHT, MY ONLY QUESTION WAS WHAT MODIFICATIONS WOULD DRAW THE LINE, AND IF YOU CAN'T ANSWER THAT, THEN DON'T BOTHER TO POST.

Also talking to the dealership and the 3rd party company is considered research, since they both gave me information.

Engine Mods voids power train warranty.

    Suspension Mods voids suspension warranty.

Basically, if you add on a coilover system it will not void your engine/drivetrain warranty.

Dont be surprised when your coil overs cause your mystery motor issue to be suddenly non-covered. These warrant coverage companies are shady as all **** and will stop at nothing to avoid paying your claim. Just another reason avoid the warranty alltogther and bank the $$. The %'s are on YOUR side.

Should i just ask for a refund and then see if I can buy another extended warranty from another dealership?

I just called the warranty company again and they told me that It say's on the contract that any modifications with aftermarket parts would void my entire warranty.

I really want to do modifications to my vehicle and since I want to put some aftermarket parts on my A4, I feel like the best thing do to right now is to request a refund for the warranty and just buy a another warranty from another dealership.

Magnuson/Moss is only for LIKE OEM parts. Doesn't do anything for ECU tuning and the like. SO if you chip your car, you're voided. Sure there's a chance the company may not catch on at first but eventually they will send someone out who will ask the Audi dealer and they'll say yep TD1 and you're done. Like others have said, if you put coilovers on the car don't expect the suspension to be covered. And so forth.
Really all you can do is OEM components or just do bolt ons you know you can remove should an issue arise if you want to keep a warranty.

My question isn't about tuning but about adding aftermarket exhausts, lowering suspension, halogen to bi-xenon converts, and simple things. I called JM&A today and asked them where they draw the line to modifications, and they said that any modification under this warranty is not allowed and If done, they will void my entire warranty. The person I was talking to referred me to my warranty contract under Exclusions #1, that states...

"Exclusions from coverage: This service contract will not pay or reimburse you for:
    1. Any Loss, damage or expense caused by accidents, any alterations to the vechicle or the part, use of oversized or
undersized tires or wheels. Alteration to the vechicle not authorized by its manufacturer, the failure of any part not covered
by this serice contract, or accidental loss;"

From what I understand from it, they won't pay for alterations to the vehicle that cause damage to the car or parts. Now where in that sentence say's that they will void my entire warranty if I do any modification? They won't pay to fix aftermarket parts or problems that they might cause, I get that but void my warranty?
