The important part is that you don't enter the "total number of remotes you are adapting" - you do THAT when you are adapting the immobilizer- different procedure.
What you do is follow the instructions and enter "1" for the 1st key, "2" for key #2 and so on.

Also, here is some helpful info for your programming... In order to find if your remote works with your car and you can use it, go to "Measuring Block" 006 - Go! and look at field 2... There should be four bits in this field (all 0000)... Hit a button on your remote, one of the bits should now change to a 1 depending on the button you hit

Procedure for matching remote controls to most VW & Audi vehicles:
Under "Select Control Module"
"Select"
"46 - Cent. Conv." or "35 - Cent. Locking" (depending on year and make/model)
"Adaptation - 10"
First enter channel "00" as this will set all settings back to factory.
Enter channel "01" (Again "21 depending on make/model).
"Read"
This is supposed to display the number of currently stored remotes in "Stored Value". But a lot of people actually get 0. Like I did...
According to ross-tech, this is what you must do next which is the part that messes everyone up - "Enter your total number of keys up to a maximum of 4 (including any existing keys) in 'New Value.'" Do not do that.
Instead, for your first remote just put in a "1" and finish the procedure.
Start again with your next remote And when you adapt the 2nd remote just put in a 2!! instead of a one- (this is telling the module that you are assigning that "#2 memory slot" to this remote.)
Key remote matching:
For my C5 Allroad, in VCDS it's 35-Central Lock, Measuring Block 08, Group 07 field #2 that gives the bit field of 4 "0's". Field #1 shows # of matched remotes which remains 0 until you press a button on a "good" remote. When you do press a button on the active remote, field 1 changes to total # of remotes and field 2 will change 1 bit in the field to "1". Button must be pressed for a couple of seconds to give the controller and VCDS time to react.
I'm on the second remote I've tried to adapt to this car with no luck. I'm not referring to the immo3 matching, that worked fine with a new fob. I'm talking about the remote lock functions. Found out that remote #1, although the FCC ID and p/n's were identical, the FREQUENCY was not. My car operates on 315 Mhz and the new remote I got is a 433.92 Mhz unit...my bad there. However, just got another used remote section where the freq, fcc and p/n are identical and still no luck. Group 7 showed nothing when I pressed a button on the second used remote. Yes, the battery is good....
NOT happy. At least this Group 7 step is a good way to determine quickly if your car even sees a remote before attempting programming, if I read this correctly.
I do have the login code for the dash, thanks to K0mpresd, but this group 7 thing doesn't see the remote anyway....May have go to Autozone or someplace that sells aftermarket remotes/batteries and has a reader kiosk to test remotes to see if this second used remote is defective.
What else could it be?
