    For the A5 2.0T folks

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What is your general opinion about the A5 with the 2.0TFSI engine?
Ideal i guess the 3.0T or S5 would be a good choice.
But since there is no option to have the 3.0T with a manual transmission i am leaning towards the 2.0T.
Importing from the US is out of the question, since US car's wont make it through car inspection in the EU.(eu norm and all that crap).

Would you go for the 2.0T choice again if you had to choose now?

    Thanks

Absolutely! Easy to mod if that's a route you'd want to take, but still more than enough power and handle as is, imo.

Agreed, it has plenty of power for 99% of daily driving needs. It has surprisingly good torque IMO. That being said, I'm sure a 3.0T or 4.2 would be more fun though I have not driven either. I have no complaints on the 2.0. Just remember that it is not a racecar.

    Alright thanks for the info.
Modding is probably going to happen to some extend.
Had a BT ordered from PSi to put on my 1.8T, but since that won't be used anymore i figured i could perhaps use it on the next car.

ZERO complaints, all I care about is accelerating while entering the freeway, good gas mileage and looks. My A5 SLine has all three covered...

The a5 has plenty of power. Drive one and you will be surprised that the 2.0t has that much torque. It's mainly due to the variable valve timing.

"Fast" and "Quick" being subjective terms, a lot depends on what you are used to, what you've driven and what your plans are for the car. For a DD, I believe anything over 200hp (and under 3500lbs or so) will do the trick. Now speaking to the 2.0T... I've spent a few years in a chipped FWD 1.8T car (DD) and a weekend 300ZXTT with a modified 3.0TT. I'll say that turbo cars definitely have the advantage of feeling faster than they are, and when properly built / balanced, have a wonderful torque curve for low-rpm / city driving.

Would I move to another 2.0T vehicle? Absolutely. Am I still waiting for a 3.0T S5 to be within reach as well? You know it.

I thought I would never say this but it does suck to be in Europe once in a while, just the fact that you can't get a manual S5 over there but you do over here - it used to be the other way around on most cars. If I were you I would do some deep research and locate a mint condition used manual S5 over there with the latest specs possible so that it matches your expectations for model type etc, I am sure you can find one quick. You could also try Canada, those sent to Canada are quite similar to the European models I hear. Where you are, a 2.0T will be a sitting duck, you will be run over and left in the dust by a stock Renault at the autobahn. Stick to the S5.

the 2.0T is the only motor i would go with. Great on gas, easy to get good power, just as pretty and there is nothing more pleasing that hearing a turbo spool.

I brought over my US spec 1.8T A4 and it passed in Germany, yes it's more strict than that of US inspections but it still passed. I think the 2.0T A5 would be suitable for you, I opted for the 3.2L V6 for personal reasons, but the 2.0T should be more than enough.

Germany you can pull it off, but not Belgium.
One option is to import it to German and register it there for half a year and then try to get it to Belgium.
But Audi Germany recommended not to try it.

Thanks for the responses guys, guess i am going to look for a A5 2.0T.

i had both an s5 v8 and now a a5 2.0t. while the v8 is faster, i dont regret downgrading to a 2.0t ( asides from the exterior looks ).

2.0t is plenty fast enough and has enough torque as my weekend driver. especially in NYC where u rarely even get to step on it anyways since its traffic galore.

    the a5 is probably the slowest car i ever owned ( besides my first car which was an integra LS w/ 140 hp ). i had a g35 coupe ( 270 hp ), s5 ( 340hp?), g37 sedan ( 310 ) and now the a5 2.0t ( 211hp ). high reving 3rd gear is so much fun <3 1st and 2nd gears are slow though. but whatever u do, make sure u get manual.

i got a slush box because i never intended on owning a manual again unless it was a viper...slight regret there but its not like im racing the car anyways. Sport mode is cool enough for me.

as far as the 2.0 being fast, its not and there is a possibility of getting spanked by a honda kid.

its because the car is not that fast that u need it in a manual. cause at least u get a drivers enjoyment out of it. xD

people get spanked by hondas because they floor it no matter what. cause driver douche. take gss5 for an example. give him whatever car, and hell still be faster than u. he makes his passat 0-60 in less than 2 seconds. his foot weighs around 500 pounds.

I stopped worrying about Hondas and stoplight racing when I bought an Audi. But that's just me.
