Alcantara wrap on our steering wheel?

I've been throwing around the idea of wrapping my B5 steering wheel with black Alcantara and at the same time try to make the steering wheel thicker. Anyone know of a shop that will do this and approximate price? Has anyone done this and have sample pictures?

I want to wrap it in Alcantara because it's my track car. The old leather is really smooth and doesn't provide enough grip for my hands even though I'm using racing gloves. I also want the steering wheel to be a little thicker for extra control.

They can do it for you. I suggest buying a B6 steering wheel and airbag and having it done. Will look better.

I have had redline do several wheels for me.

I have a black alcantara wheel w/ a gray leather strip at 12 o'clock in my current car. It does not seem to store any dirt like the above comment. I really like the feel of the wheel.

Also redline has an option to add padding for thickness.

Looks like they don't do the installation, but send you out the insert instead & need to have some shop do it.

Hasn't Porsche been doing this for a long time now? I've only seen one case where the alcantara showed some wear but it was not a very well maintained car (boxster). Then again, the typical P-car owner probably puts on less miles than most of our cars

He's been pretty busy I assume. Had to cancel my order because it took like 5 months with nothing being done.
