Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 or Michelin Pilot Super Sport-differences other than price?

I see the PS2's have a tread ware of 220 and the Super Sports are 300, which should make then last a little longer.

How about some impressions and comments? I've had the PS2's (if they are the same ones) quite a few years ago on another Audi and they were probably the best tires I've ever had but they only lasted me 12k miles or so before it was time to start looking for new ones within several more thousand miles.

I went from the Pirelli P-Zero Rosas that came on my car to the SS. Love them. Quieter, smoother. Can't say how long they will last, the Rosas only got about 16k miles, so hopefully these will be longer

The SuperSports are on a completely different level than the PS2's, which are using the same design/compound from years ago. The improved SS's are better in every aspect, grip noise and treadlife. I've heard something about Michelin prorating and guaranteeing them to last up to a certain mileage as long as there is no uneven wear from a bad alignment as well, but I could be wrong. Definitely recommend them though.

The SS is made to phase out the PS2. Had the first set of 275/30/20 in the country on my S5 back in 2011 well before they where ever on sale. I still have them on the car. They are outstanding. Better wear, traction and temp raitings then the PS2 at a superior price point and a tread wear guarantee. The PSS is the gold standard in a daily driver car, only thing I would buy.

The PS2s are discontinued at this point. If you still get any than it's existing inventory. I put the SS on my S4 not long before I sold it. My local tire shop couldn't get any PS2 anymore and they were out themselves. In the short time I was driving the SS, I definitely noticed quite a difference. Better grip in wet and dry, quieter. No idea if they last longer, though.

Yes, seems strange that they are much better than PS2 but much cheaper. When I supercharged my old R8 V8 stock Pirelli PZero could not hold traction so switched to the SS, what a huge difference. Was also one of the first to get in March of 2011. Can't wait to change to them on new R8

I know.... Everyone had said Michelin had a new tire that was better and cheaper than the PS2's which confused me when trying to shop tires.

I have tracked my A4 with both the PS2s and the PSSs. Absolutely night and day difference.
Because the PSSs are so much stickier, you will get more body roll when you really push them.
Here's a shot of the PSS after breaking them in on the track

I don't track my car and need a daily driving tire that lasts 20-23k miles. I just want the car to ride very nice and be safe in the rain.

You will be good with the PSS. I have tested the shit out of mine. Even did some high speed stuff at the local air strip in standing water. As mentioned, quiet, sticky and great treadwear considering. And sexy which is important to me.

I've got 30k on my PSS's and probably have another couple of months before I need new ones.

    stageracer, Is you car lowered?

Unfortunately my car is lowered 1" all the way around. I'm getting either the Stern, Black Forest or SPC adjustable control arms to help with the inner tire wear on the fronts.
