Lightbulb Streaming audio via bluetooth adapter solved!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So for those out there that have a 3G MMI know that its a sore subject that there is no audio bluetooth support via the MMI. I too bought the 30-pin bluetooth adapter and attempted to retrofit with immediate failure.... until now!

So I was browsing around the MMI hidden menu and saw some options that enabled my iPod AMI cable (or any that is connected) to register as a AUX cord. In the hidden menu, go to diagnose>settings>AMI/AUX Enable all of them as shown below. (*** To regain use of the iPod feature via the MMI, you must switch back to the original settings.***) Plug in you bluetooth adapter to the iPod cable attached to the AMI, link your device and BT adapter per the instructions and enjoy you wireless music solution! Confirmed that it works on my C6 A6 and Q5(B8 platform) I hope this helps others seeking this quick fix!

Very interested in this, where did you get the adapter and how do you access the secret menu? Now I have a spare iPod I keep in the glove box but its a pain to always update. Would love ease of Bluetooth! Can you pair the phone to the music Bluetooth and the phone Bluetooth at same time?

-I got an adapter off Amazon. Any of those will do fine.

-To access the hidden menu, you need a vagcom to enable it...

Hidden menu in MMI Navi Plus (3G): (Only for Navigation equipped cars)

    [5F - Information Electr.]
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6
    change 0 to 1

Use this hidden menu at your own risk.
Caution: Keep away from the "Bootloader"

-If your phone allows, Yes and Yes! (Confirmed with my iPhone 5)

Correct...one or the other. I don't bother with the iPod that much anymore; I mainly use Spotify.

I love Spotify. I currently use the "hack" of plugging in my iPhone5 to AMI in glovebox and pressing play in Spotify (overrides Music app on phone...but then I don't get any functionality and need to control everything from the phone...which is then in glovebox. **sigh**). If I can at least have phone in hands-reach...problem solved. Question: will doing this void warranty, as I'm sure the dealer will consider this a hack for sure anytime I take it in for service?

You should look into getting a ProClips mount. I have one.>>> http://www.proclipusa.com/

Highly doubt it. I had CD ripping enabled, as seen above, when I had to have my MMI reflashed do to a glitch that caused my SiriusXM to not show up. They reflashed it under warranty. No cost, no questions.

So I have my OBDII cable and VCDS Lite, the test reads interface found and latency excellent and the com port is configured correctly, but when I go to select any control module, 5F, 01, whatever, it cant communicate. Any ideas?

Ignition is on, dont know what else it could be.

    Odd.

Try running an auto-scan....Make sure you choose C6 A6 from the drop down box before executing. If that works, then its something wrong with the VCDS Lite program.

    just ordered this instead: http://www.amazon.com/New-Design-Vag...=AD4QDGFXLX2R9

dont want to mess around here, I would rather have full diagnostic capability and a 409 cable cant give me that regardless.

Anyone have any information or know where I could look for the information? The new OBDII cable I got works great! full VCDS functionality for 80 bucks.

Not to sure of the workings of the MMI 2G. The only resource I can think of is to PM DavidB8. He is a SME(subject matter expert) on the MMI 3G and I'm quite positive he has some knowledge on the MMI 2G also.

SO I went on a tear trying to get this to work... and realized at the end of it that it is only possible with a lot of custom wiring or paying this one website at lease 120 bucks for the custom cables. I got the ipod AMI cable converted to a pseudo AUX cable through reconfiguring the connector innards but in MMI 2g when you do that the power to the AMI cable is shut down.

Long story short, I'm setting up my AMI - 3.5mm cable to run to my phone dock. Most people say that the bluetooth audio quality is lacking anyway.

This is true... Although it was nice to be wireless, that was short lived. My own BT adapter and my friend Audi OEM AMI BT module had nothing on the sound from my direct connection.

Feeling like a tool - this shouldn't be so F'ing hard to resolve. Have a 2013 allroad w/o nav - the "concert stereo" system(I think) and am forcerd to use a cable to play Pandora or listen to music from my iPhone 5 - WTF! The dealer was clueless and quite honestly in reading all the different posts I realize that not only can it be done and that Audi used to make an adapter (part no. 4F0-051-510-J) but it seams to be impossible to find and probaly not cheap. All want to do is lose the cable and retain good sound quality - is that asking much? Can a nigga get a table dance - Please help - Thanks, John S
