    2014 S5 Engine & Changes???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anybody know what the changes will be to the 2014 S5? I heard about audi going to a 4 cylinder turbo version but I think that's not till the 2015 model. I'm looking to get either a 2013 or 2014 S5 but wish I knew exactly what the changes and price might be. I was just at the dealer and he mentioned that 2014 will have a bit more horsepower but still the V6 Supercharged. Can anybody confirm?

I think the 5yr loan rates for new model release is 2.9% compared to 1.9% that it's now so I can wait and I dont think they take too much off the price at the end of the model year. Any info on that as well?

    Thanks!!

S5 for 2014 should be V6 Supercharged, maybe just a slight different ECU to get a few more power. No word on what the 2015 will be yet, but almost 100% sure it won't be a 4 cylinder turbo from other discussions in the past on here and in the S4 section.

The day a S5 has a 4 cylinder turbo will be sad. I know you can get alot of power out of them. But this trend of downsizing engines is killing me. And besides what would they put into the A5 then?

I found this article talking about the change. There is a big kick on lower car weight and better gas mileage. I just noticed that it was written back in 2009. Im going to wait for the 2014 model and get the higher horsepower. I may have to pay more on financing and have less room for them to knock money off the sticker price due to just coming out, but no way around that.

    http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...fours-car-news

I drove both the automatic and manual in the S5. The automatic in sport mode(didnt have drive select option) was very snap you back when you hit the gas but then felt like it fizzled a bit in the high end rpms. The stick didnt have that quick instant jolt of power like the auto but the high rpms that you were able to wind out felt like much more power than the auto. I wanted an auto(city driving mostly) but I think Im gonna go with the stick. Oh, I cant afford the drive select option packages, that adds $20k more to the car bundled and just out of my budget.

Hopefully they will post some exact specs on the 2014 soon as I think they release them in Europe mid year and Oct here in the US.

I don't think you should have any problem with a discount on a 2014. The changes are going to be very minimal if any, maybe a new color and a few other small options. 2013 was the facelift year so it may have been a little tougher right when they were released.

Cool. Do you know if the cost increase is 1%? If so, that makes it almost a wash with free advanced key.

That is great as I wanted that option but couldn't see myself spending so much more on options to get it. I wonder with that bundled in now how much more the base price for the premium plus will go up, including the base increase for the new year?

Does anybody have any idea on prices yet or when they will be out and where to find them first?

I read prices will probably be released in June. I would imagine a 1% increase or around $500 dollars. That said, if you walk in and place an order I assume they would have to tell you the price.

IF you order now there is no pricing. Pricing is out in June. Should go up about a grand in price based on equipment increases. Gotta start stretching the gap for the new S3 in 2014.

I just ordered the 2014 S5. Gone is the Carbon Atlas. In is something called the Beaufort Black Aluminum Inlay which I think the S6 has if you google it.

The "Premium" package name is now called Tecnik.

This is in Canada so it may be different outside of Canada.

If this is your experience, then you didn't/don't understand the power band of the engine and how to keep the manual shifts in that range. The manual, properly applied, would equate the the feel of the DSG with the exception of the speed of the shifts the driver is capable of.

In case nobody else has stated this the A5 is getting a more powerful turbo, not the S5. Not yet. That is about 2/3 years down the line as a guess, if you want an S5 you have a while before a turbo version comes out. I spoke to dealer to confirm this years is certainly still supercharged.

Not necessarilly. Placed the order for our 2013 A4 in April last year, and no prices were available. Dealer went on 2012 prices, and made the adjustment when they were released around the time the car came in...6 weeks later!

Also...Interesting to see that the TTRS is gone for 2014 in this guide. Maybe show up later in the model year refreshed?
