    B7 Aftermarket LED Tail lights

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've tried to search through the forums and not had a great deal of luck!

Has anyone fitted aftermarket LED tail lights to their B7 sedan? Specifically an RS4? I really like the LED style but do not want to fit them to find they 'cheapen' the look of the car, or they don't work at all anyway!

These are the lights I am looking at: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUDI-A4-S...ht_6047wt_1163

and here is a quick chop of what it should look like in my head:

    Appreciate any input!

If that's the case, I'd steer clear of those eBay lights.

The ones ECS has don't don't look quite as cheap, I have no idea on quality however.

Although the LED pattern in your pic is pimp!

The LED pattern is much better in the posted photos in original PIC.

I think the ebay ones look more expencive than the others posted IMO anyway

Yeah, I definitely prefer the style of the ones posted... They mimic the newer B8 LED taillights which suits the car IMO!

I'm pretty tempted to get a set when the time comes anyway... Just was hoping someone else would have seen/have them fitted... They have a black edge by the looks which will blend with my car nicely, and hopefully will help it not look to 'altezza' which is really my own concern.

Any clarity on what if anything would need to be done to get them working in the RS4? will it need additional resistors or anything to prevent the car whinging about them?

No, it's still a B7. Most body parts are still interchangeable.

I have seen the ebay ones. IF your worried about fitment then get ecs ones. If parts for Euro is the same as ECS than those are ok too. The ebay ones DO NOT FIT FLUSH! If that doesn't bother you then go ahead. Coderedpl had them and they just didn't fit right. I was going to get them until I saw them on his car. They look great but im the type of person that if its not flush and its hanging out or pushed in some it bothers me. ECS ones from what I read can be flush but it takes some muscle and time. Ive decided to go this route.

I have the ebay ones, no issues here. They sit flush enough with extremely minor gaps. They match the pattern in your top pic. Same ones on the Adam's Rotors S4.

I'm on the fence about all those designs... I don't understand why they can't just mimic the OEM tails, but with LED lighting?!?!

Can someone find an electrical engineer and figure out a way to rewire these taillights and then market them? I would even consider getting a B7 just for the taillights (spoiler alert: I was looking for a B7 S4 anyway

    My suggestion:

(Excuse the chopping of your pic, ECS but I was curious as to what they would look like without a glare):

right tail light would be the nighttime taillight. Applied brakes would illuminate all LEDs a step brighter (like the left, only brighter).

Unfortunately we do not have any more pics than the ones on the product page. We've also sold the RS4.

Not really, you have that huge clear area on the bottom... It's not cool, smoked is slightly better, but still not great IMO...

    They are these:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-A4-S4-R...344258&vxp=mtr

I can get closer pics of the gaps in person.. they're minor and don't bother me much, the LED tails look so much better at night and I also don't mind the clear strip.

I may get mine smoked soon.

And what is wrong with incandescent tail light bulbs, exactly? It's not like you are going to be reversing global warming by going LED.

LEDs illuminate faster than incans. You are giving the dumb ass tail gating you more time to stop, because the lights come on quicker.

Are there LED bulbs we could just swap out?

Also, the rate at which incandescents light up compared to LED's is absolutely miniscule compared to the reaction time of a human being. I would rather do a mod that I can enjoy, not the people behind me.

You can definitely enjoy it. The LED pattern on the ones I have looks very OEM and the OEM taillights just look dated in my opinion.

Although, I can't say I'd spend $350 on these.. I got mine for incredibly cheap (less than $150 and in perfect shape) and I couldn't pass them up. Definitely happy I got them though. For ~$80k these cars should have had LED taillights from the factory. You gonna tell me LED taillights weren't around in 2007/8?

Also, try this on for size. LED tail lights are on average .2 seconds faster than incandescent bulbs. At 60 mph, that .2 seconds gives a driver behind you an extra 20 ft. of stopping distance. Just food for thought.

IMO our cars need LED EVERRRRYTHING! Our cars are slowly becoming dated. It's bad enough when I get in a rental or a loaner, I can play music thru my bluetooth and the car has WIFI LOL.....the least we could do is modernize the bulbs!!!

Haha I know right!!! I just did the aux mod on my car to avoid the GARBAGE ipod integration. Like seriously? I hook my ipod up the first day I got my car (November 2010) and I look at the song list... Track 01 Track 02 Track 03...

Just got my LED tails in from USP. Pretty sure they are the same thing as ECS.

Our cars are based of the b6 platform, which is from late 2000..... So yeah, it's old. But I think the RS4 has aged a lot less than the current B8 S4s and S5s have.

Where did everyone mount their resistors any pics? Also on the topic of leds not trying to thread jack but I have the ziza license plate leds from ecs and I get a bulb out error when I first start car. Anyone else have this issue, and what do you suggest I do to fix? Also no codes are being logged that I can see.

Def thread jack LOL. I have the ziza license plate lights too. Only get an error when the lights are on auto and you're in a dark enough place for the lights to turn on at startup (like a garage, or just at night) The bulb out error goes away immediately, once it senses the lights. Never a problem. Just a 1 beep and its gone. In normal daylight with lights on auto, it never gets an error. I love the ziza lights and get compliments all the time. Cheap easy mod.

To be fair, the RS4's first priority was performance. Acura has always been about "luxury + technology".
