    4.2 Oil Capacity?

    I am having an issue with my oil level and oil pressure. Anyone know how much oil the 2005 A6 with 4.2 liter engine takes with oil filter change? Engine code is BNK.

    I have an 06 which is the same motor...it takes an insane 9.3 quarts...

    WOW!!
    I looked it up on Autozone's website (6.9qts.), but I figured it may not be correct considering they say our engine has a timing belt. Thanks for chiming in.

    Ya i think that's because the 05 and 06 are chain driven, 07 and up are belt driven.

    All of the C6 4.2s are chain driven. The 6.9 number is for the 3.2

    Ha.. I did not know that. I stand corrected gents. So fsi engines haave to deal with chain rattle AND carbon cleaning :s

    put 9 first than drive a bit, check the level and add some more if needed.
