There is a prep spray that I bought, just spray and wipe.. then paint. I forgot to spray the side markers, and the rear silver seal under the trunk and it wouldn't stick. :/ Other then that, good results!.. It took a few hours to dry. I let it sit over night then drove it out on the road. It's got a rubbery texture right now but in a couple weeks it should settle.

Not crazy about those headlights, but the taillights I could live with. Great job on the dip. I'm sure the DipYourCar forum would love this as well.

Yeah, I haven't had much love with those ebay headlights on this forum.. I've been so involved in getting the APR performance stuff done, and suspension, etc, and haven't invested time in the headlights; they are at least functional for right now!. I think that will be my next mod, because the more I look at them the more I am unhappy with them.. Good thing I only paid like 280 bucks for them about a year ago.. As far as the LED Tail lights, I am very happy and they look great at night. I will probably smoke the taillights / new headlights next.

Decided to paint my car with Plasti Dip.....

I imagine if someone got really good at doing this it wouldn't be that bad of an idea and gives you infinite paint options without high costs. Still not convinced. Paint is the way to go for me.

    But the car looks good.

Good job anyway, you got ball, and it turned out well.
Is the plastidip any different from other paint in a spray gun? same application, what pressure you painted it?

For the cost you can't beat it. Paint and vinyl are $$$ and paint is permanent.

For the next week or so I am just going to rinse it with water and use a shammy to wipe it down.. after then I read you can wash it normally. Dipyourcar sells some car wash stuff thats pretty concentrated and gentle, but the paint is perfectly fine going through a car wash or treated under a normal wash.

It's very easy to clean, you can purchase dipyourcar's car wash stuff or just use normal wash and those things come right up. The plasti Dip sprays just like normal paint, I would recommend the kit off their website .. I think its like 250 bucks for everything.

I babied my wheels for a couple weeks and then they were tough! I went through car washed (every other day, monthly pass ;-) ) and even crunchy/icy snow banks.

It all depends how you apply the dip... I had my roof rails dipped 12 month ago, and still as yesterday, and I use automated car wash at least twice a month so not an issue! This is a prime example of steel balls and hands growing ftom where they are supposed to! Well done! Love the calipers))

Thats actually the best way to paint something with plastidip. It gives a much cleaner edge by over spraying and peeling the excess than taping off exactly peeling the tape off that usually causes the dip to pull and stretch..
