    Question 3.0T Q5

    So can someone educate me on what is different from the 3.0T in the Q5 to all the other 3.0T's in the Audi line?

    I truely don't know.

    My real question is actually the SQ5. I have a 3.0T and wondering if it worth it to go SQ5 or not...

    3.0T in the Q5 is 272hp - for example in the S4/S5 it is 333hp.

    I believe the SQ5 is 354hp.

    It's the same engine with differing output. You can of course tune the engine in your Q5 with an ECU upgrade.

    i think the SQ5 is a different beast...

    A lot of tuning potential with a 3.0 S-Line with an ECU flash but other things like suspension/brakes/exterior and interior accents would be sorely lacking.

    The 3.0 V6T is an amazing engine, so would recommend having it in at least one of your vehicles.

    I know the difference in HP, but I'm wondering is it JUST tuning or is there more?

    I bet it's just the difference in tune. EU TDI's have 170hp, US TDI's have 140 and can be tuned to the exact SPECS as EU. there reasoning behind this is probably because they didn't want that much HP on a SUV.

    Small correction: in EU no more TDI engine with 140 HP and 170HP but it is now 143HP and 177HP

    Correct. Another example was the 1.8T in the MKIV gti/jetta. From 1999-2002.5 these engines were 150hp. Then after 2002.5 they jumped up to 180hp. Both of these engines tuned with APR produce the same amount of power =/-2-4hp

    No, the 3.0 in the A6 and other cars wont tune out the same as say the S4, why I dont know, maybe they have the valve train set up different

    Audi A5 (8T2) 3,0 ltr. TFSI from 200 kW (272 HP), 400 Nm to approx. 279 kW (380 HP), 500 Nm

    A5 has a 3.0L that's detuned also? I thought it was only 2.0 in the A4/5 and 3.0 in the S4/5

    Correct. As far as tuning goes, check out the dynoes from the SC V6 in the S4 (the 333 hp engine) vs the SC V6 in the older A6 (272 hp engine).

    Huge gains!!!!!!!! I was thinking I would be around 400 crank hp with Stage 2 APR.......

    I know APR is pretty close to being done with the new ECU's, so they should be releasing software soon. I plan on going straight to stage 2.

    GIAC's gains are REALLY impressive, and APR and STaSIS/REVO are just about to release their tunes...so there will be multiple options. Exhausts are also in development, so who needs an SQ5? The next few months should prove very exciting for Q5 3.0 owners....We will be running circles around a stock SQ5, LOL! The stock brakes on the Q5 Prestige S-Line are the same size as the S4 as well (and they are Brembos to boot!), so I don't think the SQ5 will have any advantage there either. Maybe a few interior finishes, but having the Sport Package & S-Line is close enough for my taste and I didn't have to wait until 3rd quarter....

    Are you sure it's the same brakes. I'm aware that Audi makes mistakes on their website, but they do show the brakes being smaller on the Q5 than the S4.....I hope you're right.
    Other than looks and suspension, I can't really see the advantage of the SQ5. No reason we can't make the same power or more and they'll be limited to the same hurdles as us, in regards to power.

    The Prestige S-Line 3.0 has bigger brakes than the other Q5 variations. They are Brembo calipers (front only) w/ 345mm rotors in the front - 330mm rear, which are the same size as the S4 comes with stock. I was really surprised myself....
    As for suspension, I lowered mine with H&R springs (about 1.6" drop) with the factory drive select and couldn't be happier. The SQ5 is about a 1" drop from the stock Q5 3.0. I'm also about to add the Eurocode sway bar end links, SPC adjustable upper control arms and Alu Kreuz stabilizer and should have a really solid handling yet comfortable set up. Add the ECU, exhaust, and intake and I'll have a SQ5 crusher that'll surprise a few other cars as well!

    Pretty sure I do not have the "prestige" as I do NOT have adaptive lighting, lane departure warning, etc.... My MSRP was $52,900 and I do have the S-Line, MMI, Sport Pkg, B&O...... My brakes do not say Brembo on them. Do they, if they are in fact Brembo's?

    To answer your original question SEXICAN, from what I found the S4 has different headers, and that is the only difference other than tuning. The Q7/Q5/A6 will have less WHP since tiptronic has more drivetrain loss than S-Tronic, but the numbers should be pretty close at the crank. I wonder if GIAC is releasing a Stage 2/2+ file as well... That would make the Q5 one heck of a sleeper.

    They are not marked as Brembos on the fronts, but they are in fact the real deal. I'm sure you've got them too with the model and options you've listed. I'm not sure if they come on all the 3.O's, but I'm pretty sure they come standard on the S-Line variations.

    As MaddogS4 mentioned, the 2013's do have Brembo calipers up front (non-Brembo would have floating caliper where as the Brembo have a fixed caliper). The part description will show that in EKTA. ThunderDent on this forum also has upgraded to them on his pre-facelift Q5. You should be able to find the part numbers from his build thread.

    cool. maybe that's why I had trouble clearing the rotors with my new wheels. Had to use 5mm spacers. pretty sweet!

    All models Q5 MY2013 have a Brembo front brakes.
    Models 3.0TFSI have a larger diameter disc 345x30mm

    Model SQ5 has a brakes ATE Teves-380X36mm

    RS4 and RS5 Brembo 365x34mm standard ////// CERAMIC 380X38mm price 8.500 EUR for disc and brake pads

    Audi S4 used TRW GIRLING 345x30mm

    To me this is the age old question of whether it is worth buying the more expensive model when you can modify the less espensive model to outperform it?

    The answer depends on what that net difference in cost actually is between the two, how much you value the 'badge' or other little things you get with the more expensive model, and how much you value your warranty since you are considering modifications.

    From the information I've seen, it does look like the 3.0T in the S models (S4/S5) still has higher outputs when tuned than the 3.0T in the A6, Q5, ect.

    You have to also consider the fact that those that buy the SQ5, will have a tuned car that is COVERED 100% by a factory warranty. Those of us that decide to tune our cars will always run the risk of Audi telling us to go fly a kite, if we come in with a power-train related issue.
    I think, if I had the money to buy an SQ5, I would likely leave out of the dealership with something else. Like an A7, or other model. I paid right at $50,500.00 for my Q5 and I've easily got $3.5k in wheels, tires, and exhaust. I'll have another $2k in tuning and intake, when I go that route, so $56k to own a unique car that will be a little bit of a beast.
    I've always gravitated towards cars that don't qualify as "me too" cars, and also could be made to be pretty quick. When Audi announced the 3.0T in the Q5, I thought, "Hmm, now there's a car you don't see every day with a lot of potential to be transformed into a bad a$$ ride for not a whole lot of money.".......

    End of the day, the biggest advantage to owning the SQ5, IMO, would be the notoriety and factory warranty.

    The Q5 3.0T does not have Audi Valve Lift...

    I think we could answer questions about what the real differences in the motors are by looking at part numbers, for example comparing the heads, valve train products etc, if they all match up then it should be the same engine right? So if all the part numbers were the same, then the differences would be in the tune, maybe the intake and exhaust manifolds, transmission etc

    I'm curious to know how stout our 8spd Tiptronic trans is. I've heard great things about it, but until some of us get tuned, we won't really know.

    They're different engine codes. S4 uses CAKA and the A6 (and I'm assuming the Q5 as well) uses CAJA. The tunes on both cars/engines run identical timing, boost, etc...

    Excuse me but CAJA is an old model, now used CGWB, CGWD, CGXB

    CAKA are not used anymore S4 uses now: CGWC, CGXC, from 05.2013 CTUB
