    Audi concert aux input?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have searched many of the forums but can't find an answer to my question. I have a '99 A6 with the Audi concert Stereo deck and i want to add a Aux input to it. I don't care about charging or control from the deck. i just want a 3.5mm jack to plug in my iPhone. I saw this

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AUDI-MP3...1371%26ps%3D54

and am wondering if anyone knows if this works or what have you done that will work?

I love that deck!! ^ easy to use and sounds awesome with Bose. I wonder if Kufatec or other aftermarket companies have adapters.

I don't see a CD changer button, is there a CD changer plug in the back of the unit?

I'm thinking the Mode button serves that purpose...

If you have a CD changer connected then you can DIY an Aux input. In the small blue 1/3 connector there are 3 pins that correspond to R/L signal and GND. Tiny wires. The diagram is on top of the head unit.
If you simply unplug those and swap in your own 3 wires that go into a 3.5mm jack you now have AUX input. The catch is it will only work as long as a CD is in the changer and playing. What you've done is substituted the audio signal FROM the changer TO the headunit with your own audio.
    It's that easy.

    Edit;
I just looked at that EBAY link. That connector would help, but if you simply swapped it for your blue connector the AUX wouldn't work because the head unit would not see a device/ CD changer connected. Having the audio wires simply plugged in isn't enough. So, what you would do is buy that thing for a few bucks and pull the 3 wires with 3.5mm jack out of it and swap it for the wires in the same place on in the blue connector at the back of your stereo. And again, it will always need a CD available to "play" in order for the input to work.

When I bought the car it had no magazine for the CDs. So I would need to find one of those but I am curious to
know if there is a way to trick the head unit in thinking a cd is playing. Maybe a jumper from one wire to the other in the blue harness.

And no, I don't think it's as simple as grounding a wire or something. The head unit needs the CD changer logic returned to it. Similar thing when you try to change it to Cd changer when there's no magazine in.
It just says NO CD and goes back to the previous source.

For some reason I have a spare Cd magazine sitting here in the garage- and no car that it belongs to.
It's yours if you want it..

I can't find it on eBay anymore to show you the description, but I recently purchased a CDC emulator that has an AUX jack, USB port and SD card slot, and you can control the SD slot with the unit's controls. Just organize the songs into 6 folders and the headunit reads it like 6 CDs. Pretty sweet. And of course you can just plug your phone/MP3 player into the AUX jack and play/stream whatever you want.

I'll sell it to you if you want it, it's unused as I decided to upgrade my headunit. I also have the adapter plug to separate the CDC pins from the rest. PM me if interested.

you can add photo to your gallery here on forums and post with link to the pic... why external site? I am sick of older posts missing all the pics since photobucket deleted the account etc...

It's easier for me, and I've had my acct. for nearly 10 years, doubt I'll delete it. Then I can use it for more than just putting pictures on here. I cannot deny that missing pictures are very annoying though.

It will work from 1999' to 2005 for sure, that I can confirm. It'll also work in most VW radios from 99' to some models in 07'. The stereos were all manufactured basically the same by the same place and have the same wiring in the car. They all have that 3 part yellow/green/blue connector for the remote cd changer (and the SAME cd changer actually) which is all you need.
I've had a couple of those MP3 jukeboxes and they're actually super nice. I have a Dension for phone/music interface now and it offers almost no improvement over one of those.
