Frustrating!! Check Engine Light after Check Engine Light on stock car

I'm at 72,000 miles on an 06 A4. No mods and all maintenance always done and up to date and oil changes every 5000 miles. And normal driving.

At about 71000 miles, Light came on and it was the whole camshaft / fuel pressure issue and was covered by Audi. Then literally 2 days after that was fixed, light came back on for Thermostat /Coolant Temp sensor and immediately fixed by reputable Audi shop.

Now it came back on. Drives fine.

Is there other common things that go bad on with these cars around 70,000 miles?

The only think that I know was an issue a long time ago was diverter valve issue but was told its really not an issue back then. Could this be it?

It seems like once the engine is opened up, its all downhill.

Going to get it checked Monday, but curious as to what I may be expecting.

It's not so much that the engine was opened up as it is just at the milage that a lot of things needs replacing. Invest in a scanner to pull codes, Ross tech or ebay bluetooth one depending on your budget. That way you can take the guessing out of what the check engine light might mean.

    This.

Honestly a $40 OBD2 reader is a VERY useful thing to have. A Vag-Com cable is even better, but out of some people's budgets. Though my VCDS cable has paid for itself many times over not having to deal with Autozone or having a shop scan it for me. Plus logging. And coding changes. Everyone should have one in their toolbox.

OP if you do go to Autozond, be sure to get the "P" code from them, not just the "explanation" of the code.

I'll def look into it. Any link to this $40 reader? Easy to use?

I may invest in one, even though the shop i deal with usually hooks me up and checks it for free. But yea, I hate to wait.

    Theres that.

And many people buy an ELM327 dongle like this: http://www.amazon.com/Soliport-Bluet...ds=obd2+reader

And use the Torque App on their phones over bluetooth. Both are viable, but the Torque/ELM327 option is cheaper and far more useful as you can view a ton more information about the car rather than just pulling codes.

$10 ebay dongle and torque app works wonders.
