How to stop my front bumper from scraping(solutions,aftermarket parts, advice needed)

Hello everyone,

I drive a 2006 a4 and no matter how I back out of my driveway I seem to not be able to avoid scraping the left side of my front bumper. I know that you cant see the extreme undercarriage when looking at the car but I hate hearing that deathly noise everytime I back out of my driveway. If anyone has any ideas or knows of any after market parts that could serve as a scrape protector and etc please let me know. Before anyone comments on this, I have thought of repaving the angle of my driveway and I do back out at an angle.

is your car lowered? if so, go back to stock.
My wife and I got lucky with the house we bought, the other 10 houses on the street have very steep driveways, one so bad even a jeep wrangler scrapes, but our driveway was redone at some point and no scraping for me.

A skidplate won't stop the bumper from scraping.

Honestly, you're going to have to re-profile your driveway or something. I'm not sure how else to fix it. Unless you get coilovers and RAISE your suspension height.

Or just build a bumper guard out of magnesium. It totally won't catch your car on fire at all.

but in all seriousness, yeah you just have to change your angle of attack so you have less of an angle or redo the driveway, that's all I can think of besides an AMAZING NEW PRODUCT, the BUMPER GUARD ROLLERS.

I dont understand your post... You want your bumper to not scrape but you dont want a new suspension or to change your driveway?

That's how this situation works.

You are scraping because
1. you are too low
2. your driveway isn't designed for your suspension

You can fix this by
1. raising your car's suspension
2. repaving your driveway.

you can add protectors and whatnot but you will still scrape, in fact you will scrape even harder because there is more stuff to scrape on when you add more parts.

get a higher suspension or repave your driveway to have less incline.

Get a cupra lip. That is one of the reasons I got mine. It takes the abuse so that my painted bumper doesnt have to.

Get a cupra lip that you can scrape the shit out of so you don't need to worry about scraping your bumper. Problem solved.

Angle it better, I have a monster curb to my driveway that would probably take my bumper off if I backed out straight, but I let one wheel at a time go off the curb at an angle, no scrape!

What about those black rubber ramps that people put up against curbs? Im getting a set of those for myself this spring. Until then the snow works even better

I would park more on the street but the city has new laws since they repaved the street and are sticklers if your car is parked on sidewalk or street. I will have to look into that cupralip and hey maybe even the rollers!

The reason I stated that I do not want to buy a suspension or repave the driveway is because im not tryint to go in debt blowing money on something that I dont really need to get. Yes, the scraping sucks and I hate it but its a minor flaw and I was mainly looking for little fixes to avoid it.

Those rubber ramps might be something great to look into as well!

heck, if you want cheap go to a worksite and grab a junk 2x8 x 8' out of the dumpster and lay it at the end of your driveway

How much do they go for in edmonton? NAPA in fort mac wants like 80-90 per piece and you'll need 2 at least.

I've heard most people on my street had them, since we have this ridiculous sidewalk curb , but they got stolen often or destroyed by plows if you don't remove them for winter.

before we got our driveway repaved my old car (supercharged mini cooper) would scrape a bit so we used a piece of wood at the bottom of the driveway. it actually did help.
and street cred is always good.

your new to AZ... alot of members will give tough love and if you ask dumb questions you better have a flame suit on hand if you cant take that AZ might not be for you.

i have used the the wood at the bottom of the driveway and it helped.
also are you s-line ? if so your suspension is a bit lower then a base a4.

Them being stolen is one of the things im worried about. And I havent looked into it seriously yet, since I spend most of my summer out of town.
