    2009 vs. 2012 vs. 2013 engine changes...

i recall a thread from a few months back with photos of a 2012 engine and a 2013 engine compared to a 2009 engine. i cannot find it anywhere with the search function or through google. does anyone here have a link or know which keywords to search under?

the photo of the 2012 engine highlighted additional components by the oil filter and an updated pcv while the 2013 (iirc) had an aluminum intake manifold along with the other updated bits the 2012 engine had installed.

also there was a technical training manual in .pdf form that was floating around and i cannot seem to find that either. i found the original one for 2009 release but cannot find the one pointing out the revisions/changes.

Lots of internal changes ....should be good for long term use. Not to keen on E85 use...

no interest in e85... i was just curious about the changes. also i recall "jtech" (our resident audi tech) mentioning several internals that have been changed in 2011-2012 engines and of course the 2013 just cant find the list of items.

So has anybody figured out if the new intake manifold can easily retro-ed?

I'm guessing it should, since someday there's gonna be quite a few plastic ones that crack.

Anyone know what year they switched from the plastic to the metal manifold?

FWD and 6-speed manual A4s still have the CAEB engine. Audi specifically stated that only cars equipped with the 8-speed automatic would be E85 compatible and have the CPMA engine.

Tried googling CPMA and CAEB engines but didn't have much luck. What does this mean other than E85 compatible?

Funny the first result when you google "CAEB engine" is a thread I started about the engine burning oil back in 2009! VW/Audi uses codes to uniquely identify an engine configuration. It covers not only the block itself, but the fuel delivery system, and the emissions controls used.
