Removed rear seat belts, Airbag light now on...

After installing my roll cage, i decided to remove the rear seat belts since i have no desire to have anyone in the back anymore. After doing so, my airbag light came on, with codes showing a rear seat belt module error. I was wondering if any of you guys know a way around this, without having me put the belts back in. Not sure if there is a bolt that acts as a ground to complete a circuit?

I would reattach the belts, if not and you get stopped and checked you will get nailed for not having them if the rear seats are still there. I really don't see the problem, you just don't take more than One passenger

I guess you'll have to share the actual code, but I believe the error you are getting has to do with the pyro seat belt pre-tensioners. They have a 1-time use igniter circuit, just like an airbag. Anyway, you should be able to fool the system with a resistor in place of the actual pyro device. Usually the resistance is about 2 Ohms. Here is a thread (from the dark side) on the subject:

Thanks! ill have to look more into this. The car is being converted more and more for a track set up, and would love to avoid putting them back in.

On my '99, there are also switches on the rear seatbelts equipped with these tensioners to indicate whether they are in use or not (my guess is their purpose is to save you money in an accident, no point triggering a belt that isnt even in use). Based on how to rest of the airbag system is designed, these are probably tamper resistant as well. But you might as well try the resistor on the igniter circuit and post back if you are still having problems.

EDIT: Just looked at my service manual, one of the possible codes is: Seat Belt Switch -E25- Implausible switch condition (along with a short to + and to ground) which leads me to believe you will also have something special you will have to do with this "switch" (quotes because it seems more complicated than on or off). Do what you want but you would probably be better off getting rid of what you can and leaving the pyrotechnic tensioner and the switch..

I know this is a old post just seeing if you ever got that light cleared up. I am starting my track car build and got the resistors for the front seats just seeing if you ever fixed the rear seat and what you used. thanks for any insight you can give me.
