    SiriusXM module location

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can someone tell me and/or snap a picture on its location. I don't think there is one installed in the vehicle (even though the original window sticker says yes) due to the option does not show up in the MMI and the module not visible in VCDS., The SiriusXM peeps keeps calling about my free trial, since my CPO purchase last month, and saying its one installed, but offer no help but gain my credit card info. Honestly, I really don't care for SiriusXM, but I would like to know if I do have one should I have the "midlife crisis want" for it.

    Re: SiriusXM module location

I saw a post where it mentioned the module (for a C5 Rs6) is located in the trunk, left compartment. Maybe it is different for a C6.

On your MMI control, press the FM/AM button and should switch to "Radio AM", press again and it should switch to "Radio Sirius". The module is in the truck on the left side (inside compartment) and mounted on the side of the rack (seen in pic below). Audi parts sticker on the module does say "Sirius".

Well I don't have one for sure. I'm not around the car right now to snap a pic, but know there is nothing mounted on the side back there. Oh well! Not a biggie. I again, I'm not a big fan of Sirius, so I'll just use my iPod or iHeartRadio via my iPhone. Thanks, SinCityA6

Then you need to go back to the dealer that sold you the car and have them install it AT THEIR EXPENSE! It was standard equipment on your car. Being CPO'd the dealer would had to have made sure it was there AND WORKING before being allowed to CPO the car. I would be raising hell if it were my car.

    You have a point.

Well the selling dealer is 3.5 hours away. I'll converse with them on this and figure this out. Hopefully I can get work done at the local dealer and they bill the other. Will update later.

Just got back home and my compartment looks very different from yours. Weird how one model year changes things. Funny thing is that I don't see any mounting points to suggest the module installed to the side, as yours is, nor do I see any loose connectors laying around. Could it be somewhere else?

...and here is my right side compartment just for comparison. That's the rear cam module seen here.

Interesting indeed. My right side compartment looks exactly like your (minus the camera module). Where is your Nav DVD player? Looks like the rack was spun sideways as compared to mine. Simple test, press the FM/AM button on the MMI a couple of times and see if "Radio Sirius" pops up.

I have the 3G MMI HDD based, so no DVD Navi. I do have a DVD Player in the glove box, but that plays just DVD movies and MP3 Data DVDs. No dice on the button press on the MMI. Here is a screenshot of both the MMI and glovebox...

So there is the difference between 3G MMI (yours) and 2G MMI (mine). I KNOW that SiriusXM was a standard feature in your car. Just a matter of comparing apples to apples. Maybe Ynnekdude can chime in here. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

    Update

Well, I went to the dealer today about my sat radio and just so happen that another person came in with the same issue just yesterday. They end up reflashing the MMI and upgrade the software. It was covered under a TSB, but because I'm just over 50k and its a CPO, I had to pay only portion of the $85 warranty deductible. I'm satisfied to say the least.

Here is a question and I'm sure it's kinda dumb but my car did have satellite radio from the factory but somewhere before I purchased it the module was taken our (probably by the previous owner and sold on ebay) but my wife has a 05 Jetta with the XM module in it. Do you think that I can take hers and put it into my car? She doesn't use it and the idea to switch cars was hers but I don't think it can be that easy. Any input would be appreciated as I don't want to pay hundreds of $$ to replace it.

The modules were separate up to the 3G MMI when they got integrated, so its worth a try if the connectors match up.

Part numbers are different, I doubt it would work but it would be interesting to see if it works or not if you have the extra time to do the swap.

I do not think that the VW used the MOST fiber optic network for the sound data so I do not think you can do the swap.

I just received my C6.5 A6 2 months ago and have the same issue,
Sirius called me about a free trial but my system doesn't show I have it, I went to the dealer and they said the module is missing from my car and they need proof it was original equipment by me for them to replace it.
I guess they are worried about dishing out for a new module when they maybe don't have too. Would proof of original equipment be in the trunk sticker?
    Thanks for any help

Do you have the original window sticker for your A6? If not, email AoA Customer Service with your VIN. The window sticker has it listed if it came as part of the options. Mine has it listed. Plus, you're correct....it wouldn't hurt to check the 'PR codes' in the trunk to be verify the complete list of options.

I don't have the original sticker or any stickers at all, when I was looking at it it was being driven by the manager of the dealership so it had no advertisements on it at all.
I have checked the trunk sticker, no mention of any type of radio system at all, not sure if that means I don't have it or if Sirius is not something which is listed? I live in Canada and have contacted Audi Canada 2 times and they are "aware" of my situation and will call me back.... it's been 3 weeks since and no word.

    My A6 is a 2010 3.0T S-Line.

I did more research, I spoke with Sirius and they told me the serial number associated with my car was activated 4 years ago for the 3 month trial then switched off once it ended. But the car at one point did have satellite radio because "A Montreal area Audi dealership owns this serial code, and contacted us to activate it on this car" I was told my the Sirius rep over the phone.

Sounds like your dealership owes you a module. Did you buy the car from an Audi dealership? Did the Sirius rep give you the serial number of the module associated with your VIN?

I did buy it from an Audi dealer, even got the CPO and Audi Care packages.
I got the module number from Sirius and sent it to the dealer, they said they would look if the module can be found somewhere on a shelf in their parts room....

When I originally went I thought a simple software update and I was good to go, that's when they told me I have all the wiring harnesses and brackets but the module is missing, but they also told me all A6's come like that so they are ready to receive the module if ever it were bought. Does anybody know if that's true, that all of them come with wires and brackets and the antennas in case someone were to want it later on? I would assume an S-Line would come standard with Sirius radio.

Like SincityA6 said, this dealership owes you a module. Again, the window sticker might help (if you can get it from Audi Canada. Hopefully they get back to you soon). I had an '07 A6 Avant S-Line that included the "Technology Package - Voice Recognition, Advanced Key, Advanced Parking System , Audi D V D Navigation System AND Sirius (R) Satellite Radio)". This same configuration is in my current 2010 A6 Avant 3.0T (Prestige trim). So, if it was ordered/bought as an option in your car by the previous owner (which it seems it was), it appears this dealership is trying to pull one over your eyes. Also, if the module was activated by a dealership sometime ago, I'd try to call that dealership (if it is different from the one your bought your car). Good luck.

I am 99% certain that Satellite radio has been a standard feature for all A6 models in the US since the C6 model. The window stickers I have seen for C6.5 all list Sirius as standard equipment. See if you can get a copy of the Monroney window sticker for your car. Or ask on the forum if someone with the same year car can post theirs.

    if car has Bose
    then it has audio package
which also means it has satellite radio

i am not saying that only bose cars have satellite radio just the other way around

also.. if your car was built before Sirius XM merger then do yourself a BIG favor and pick up an XM module not Sirius module
    better reception/sound/reliability etc

I got the module number from Sirius and sent it to the dealer, they said they would look if the module can be found somewhere on a shelf in their parts room....

When I originally went I thought a simple software update and I was good to go, that's when they told me I have all the wiring harnesses and brackets but the module is missing, but they also told me all A6's come like that so they are ready to receive the module if ever it were bought. Does anybody know if that's true, that all of them come with wires and brackets and the antennas in case someone were to want it later on? I would assume an S-Line would come standard with Sirius radio.
The car is pre-wired for it from the factory. The unit sits in the rack in the truck with the amp and Nav unit (if installed). The shark fin Antenna is a multipurpose unit providing reception for the radio(AM/FM) Satelite radio and nav unit. HOWEVER, I have not seen an actual "pig tail" installed if a certain unit is not installed. In other words, if you look at the rack in the trunk and see a plug hanging there like it should be plugged into something, then the unit was in fact installed and subsequently removed.

Another question, do you have the MMI 3G or 2G? This makes a big difference. You have the 2G if your DIS near your speedo and tach is red. You have the 3G if the DIS is multicolor; In the 3G, the Sirius tuner is embedded into the master unit, therefore no separate module and would need the dealer to ref lash the MMI software.

I do have the colour DIS and from what have seen on the forums its the 3G High or plus MMI, if it is integrated I find it weird the dealer didn't pick up on that when they didn't see the module installed...but will contact them with that info and see if the light bulb turns on or not.

Running into the exact same issue.

2010 A6 Prem + with 3G. Should mean that Sirius is integrated, right?

Window sticker DOES show factory Sirius and available trial.
If this is a software update, can I download it? or do I HAVE to go to the dealer?

    UPDATE

Dealer confirms that my sirius box is also the main nav and radio unit.

They say they can code it to turn it on but didnt have time today.

I can't seem to find any obvious coding options in VCDS, so I guess I'll take it back to them.

Just chiming in, I replaced my Module this summer with one on ebay for $42 and it's been working great since. Just an option for those who are missing a module and don't get a solution from a dealer.
Since I don't have AMI on my 2g mmi high, Sat radio is a must.

Audi says they can attempt to reprogram but the box is probably bad.
