Bypassing A/C Compressor, belt size for 1.8T?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm trying to bypass my A/C compressor without removing anything else in the process, but can't seem to find a belt length in order to do so. I found a thread saying to use a 43" or 1092mm belt but just wanted to get 100% confirmation before I go out buying one.

    Thanks.

Is Dayco the actual brand for it? I searched for it and came up with a cross reference page that lists that part number for a different brand. 5060450 is what the part number comes up for Dayco.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting these belt numbers. I had to temporarily bypass my A/C compressor and I can confirm the Gates belt number is an accurate fit.

Had my ac bypassed like this last winter with no problems. No idler or anything and the engine seemed to rev much smoother. I believe I used a Dayco 5060423.

    Hello all,

It's been one bitch of a Monday; A/C compressor locked up on the highway on the way home, luckily I was able to pull the belt off and limp home.
Does anyone know if this will clear with the compressor still in place? (Before I venture out to find one of these belts and try it) (It's too hot to see in there right now).

Yes, the shorter belt length Gates K060450 fits with the compressor installed and bypassed. I ran this for awhile until I could get the repaired system recharged.

The belt you are referencing is shorter than the one most people are recommending for the compressor bypass. Yet...that belt (the 450K6) seems a little too long for me...so maybe this shorter belt you mentioned is correct? Also, your photo is not showing up, so I can't see how you have the belt routed.

I'm a bit perplexed. Can someone confirm the part number and/or length? The 45-5/8" (1160mm) Gates belt that I have (K06040/6PK1146/450K6) seems too long. Either that or I have the routing very wrong.
