I always thought it was 18.1 us gal, but I recently managed to put in 18.5 at the pump.

    How big are they?

I´ve always thought that C5 had 70 liter? 70liter would be 18.5 gallons I believe.
You could always squeeze some extra in the piping though...

... I'm guessing the AR has a smaller tank, then?

Well, the 4.2 AR has the same 18.5Gal size tank.. but yeah the 4.2 A6 has a 21.7Gal. yeah they should have included that in the AR, no matter what engine it has..

Hm. I guess I also would think it's a smaller tank because I tend to fill-up before it hits the red tick-lines on the gas gauge (1/4 tank)... I know it won't kill me to go into them, but for some reason, it spooks me, hahaha.

Right, but they could have engineered a two bellied gas tank (One on each bank of the Avant), so that they could have gotten away with a bigger tank yet space savings enough to make it work.

But the allroad only came on the narrow body with larger fenders. But iirc the body is the same as narrow body. Width wise. This is why they had to use a smaller, different 4.2 o the AR.

I do that too, but only because pay-at-the-pumps limits transctions to $100 and anything more than 3/4 of a tank means having to put my card in twice (pet peeve). Might not be an issue with the smaller V6/AR tank, but it is with Canadian gas prices + the 82L tank in the 4.2L and S6.

I have had my A6 for 4 months now...have yet to top off the tank. $70 is my limit and that gets me about 270 miles. Only thing i mis about my RSX is the gas mileage.
