Thumbs up 5k Service at Audi Tysons Corner, VA

Just thought I'd put up a quick review for anyone in the DC area. I know there are always mixed reviews or negative reviews of places but just wanted to put up a good review from my experience.

Realized on Wednesday morning that I was coming up on 5,000 mile service by the end of the week so I called up Audi Tysons Corner. I didn't bother with Audi Alexandria which is actually closer to me because I had only ever heard mixed or negative reviews and I went there once and the sales staff was kinda cold and uninviting. I know sales and service are different departments, but I didn't want to take my chances from what I'd already heard. Plus my understanding is that you drop off your car and they have to drive it a few miles down the road to their service place - and I'm not willing ot let someone drive down DCMetro/NoVA roads in my car...

Anyway, called them up and they said they had an open spot Friday morning. I asked for a loaner (I bought the car in Philly) and they had no issues saying I could drop my car off Thursday evening, get a loaner and pickup my car Friday afternoon. I arrived Thursday afternoon and pulled into the service drop off bay. I spoke to Tony who took care of me and made it completely painless and simple. I actually had bought under-seat storage bins that I was going to install myself, but when I was trying to undo the bolts, the T50 screw I had didn't quite grip and it was starting to strip the bolt, so I just figured I'd let the dealership install. Tony wrote it down and that was it. He pointed me towards their rental/loaner associate and I was in a white 2013 A4 loaner in about 10 minutes driving away.

Friday morning they called to estimate the cost of the under-seat storage bins. I knew it was going to be a lot, which it was, but I knew I had tried to do it myself and didn't have much luck so I needed to get done. They called again when it was complete and I was able to leave work to drop off the loaner and pick up my car. It took about 15 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I left with my serviced car - completely painless.

I would recommend Audi Tysons Corner at this point. They were helpful, friendly and quick to assist and made sure I didn't have any unanswered questions and knew what was going on.

Always nice to hear positive reviews. I have mixed feelings about Tysons, sales were great, service was not so great. When I got my car back they had lost a bracket that holds the engine cover on causing it to sit crooked, and used zip ties to hold the belly pan back on.

Frustrating because as you wrote, all the dealers in the area have such mixed reviews. Would be nice to have one with all (or mostly) positive.

yeah, trust me... i was nervous that entire time until I got it back and did a walk around the outside and inside before driving off the lot. haven't found any nasty "surprises" since then so looks like all is good this time. i agree though, i wish there was one dealership that had generally good reviews and not such seemingly large ranges in opinions... so far so good though...

Tony is my "goto" guy at Tyson's... I've had both the 5k and 15k mile services completed at Tysons. Never any issues...

The ONLY complaint is that, they don't have dedicated Audi Loaners... The first time, I dropped off my $50k+ S4 and was driving a BASE MODEL Dodge Charger as a loaner (car sucks btw, lol).

Second time, I was in an A4...

About to schedule my 25k service here within the next few months already...

Funny, I've had several very negative experiences at Audi of Tysons. The people in the parts department were very rude and short with me. I think it was because I have a much older car and only wanted parts, not service. They seem much more oriented towards newer cars and scheduled service/maintenance.

When I was looking for my S4 the sales guy was great, and totally understood that I wanted to wait for one with all of the options I wanted. Only experience there...

I'm usually at Flow in Charlottesville, and the best thing about that was getting a 2013 S Line A6 as a loaner... Fully loaded. That thing was FAST!

I had only one bad experience at the Tyson's service dept. I was told that they slid into a curb during a test drive of my old S4 and damaged the rear wheel on the passenger side. They said the damage was slight but they needed to paint it. A few years later, that wheel developed a hairline crack and started to lose air and I ended up having to replace the wheel. Did the crash cause the crack? I don't know but I have never seen anything like that happen before. I also wondered at the time what kind of joy riding they were doing that caused them to slide into a curb.

I purchased my new car at Chantilly a couple of months ago and I have been mulling taking it there for service. Konrad has been my service agent at Tysons Corner.

Audi of Chantilly stink. When I was taking my car there for warranty issues they accused me of trying to get free parts for my car.

+1 for Audi Chantilly. I had my S4 avant and now my A4 avant get serviced there. Top notch.

As for Tysons, I was in time crunch and had to stop by there to pickup an oil filter for the previous s4 avant and when I got to the parts desk, they were insisting that they do the oil change. Are you kidding me? F*** off.

This is my point about all the dealerships in the area being so annoying! I have poor experience at Chantilly, OB1 has good experience. Typically you would see mostly positive or negative views of a dealership, I feel like of all the dealers (Tysons, Chantilly, Alexandria) in the area the reviews are split almost 50/50 making it a complete gamble on if you are going to get good service or not.

I've been to both. Audi of Chantilly several times. One of the techs is a member here, drives a B6 Avant. Really nice guy named Brian. Always had good experiences there. Just got my car back from FSK in Frederick the week following Christmas, had a HORRIBLE experience there. I broke down on I-70 just outside of Frederick, so I had my car towed there and repaired. Would have cost me way more to have it towed back to my house in Sterling than it did to just pay them to fix it. Took twice as long as it was supposed to(7 days instead of 3), and when it was "finished" they left it in the parking lot for me to pick up with the air filter, MAF sensor and turbo inlet sitting in the cargo area in the back and all of the associated wiring and plumbing disconnected. It took me a half hour to put it back together to the point where I could even drive it home. I wouldn't go back there for an oil change, let alone any meaningful work.

CCA4, Brian is a service advisor when I left unless he has changed to being a tech which I don't see happening.

I remember when your car came in and you were concerned about your camshaft follower. First you got a newbie tech that had only been working on Audis for a little over a year. Second you replaced the camshaft follower and Audi's warranty department are sticklers for details like fault codes. In their eyes you had already fixed the issue.

Understood, the thing that bothered me most though was that even after putting the old cam follower back in, and bringing it in with codes, I was accused of trying to get free parts for my car. Up until that point I had good experience's there, but that whole experience really soured me. I have had no need to go back since though, and for all I know next time I need to go there I may well get good service again. I see Brian on 66 from time to time, maybe if I give him enough waves, and let him pull into the piss poor traffic my service there will also improve!!

Makes me repeat my point though, its a 50/50 when going to most in the area. Highlighted by the 16 out of 30 rating that Chantilly gets on Google reviews.
