Convert Fwd to Awd?

I have been thinking about this for some time and would like to ask what is involved?, aquiring the parts is not a problem but im thinking more along the lines of torque management and ecu issues?. Has anyone done it?. The car is on the limit with power and torque for 2wd hence the question, its an A4, b7, 2.7 Tdi with 6 speed manual gearbox (2006). Thanks in advance
If this proves to be too much hassle or cost then I guess I will be looking for a new project car in the next year or so :)

A friend did it to a VW Golf wagon but to make it work he took the running gear straight from a Golf R32. Was a beast of a Golf wagon with diesel badges hiding a 3.2l turbo under the bonnet.

All parts aquired
RS4 rear diff and sub frame with half shafts
RS4 fuel tank, will flush it out etc before it goes on
3.0 Tdi quattro 6 speed box with mount and propshaft
Will need to re-use my rear discs and brakes plus change the gear oil in the box and diff just to ensure that there is no metal bits, hope to get the swap over done in the next 5 weeks, will keep you all posted and take lots of photos.
There is bound to be some snags but I'm looking forward to having a truely unique car.:)

Still sourcing parts, wrong fuel tank sent so its going back but have everything else to do the job including a banger to use whilst the A4 is off the road. Not sure when we will start but it will probably be done in 2 sessions :)

I'd hate to be a buzz kill but the RS4 rear diff has a 4.11 ratio, and your transmission has a 3.89 ratio, which means they won't work too well together.

Its been considered and will be using a well known specialist to bring the two ratios together, I would expect there will be other problems but I have a spare car to use whilst its off the road but any pointers are welcome, after all it is the 1st to be done with this engine, hope to make a start soon, thanks :)

A buddy did it to a VW but to realize the actual success he took the operating equipment directly from a R32. Was a monster with diesel fuel badges concealing a 3.2l turbo compresseur under the hood . . . . .

quattro fuel tank now arrived, however this project is now on hold because the Rocket frame has now been painted and its racing season! So will try to get it built up and ready :)
