    Thumbs up Audi/VW G11 & G12 coolant spec alternative!

    I don't wish to beat this one to death, but, I have been doing some comparative research regarding the G11 & G12 coolant.

    As I understand it, G11 is pink, and G12 is Purple, but both grades of Audi/VW coolants are to the coolant spec VW TL 774 D (Lifetime specification).

    My stealership charges up to $35 per jug!

    Whilst cruising the antifreeze/coolant isle in my local Canadian Tire Store, I noticed that Canadian Tire have recently added an own brand of lifetime, ready mixed coolant, pale yellow color (labeled for Asian vehicles) that is to the specification VW TL 774 D, for $15.99 per jug!

    As it is specified the same as the VW/Audi spec, I am now using this coolant for top up purposes!

    Has anyone else made this observation, or using this alternative at less than half the VW/Audi price?

    Have I missed something?

    If im not mistaken the one your dealership sells is not diluted so you have to dilute it. And the one at canadian tire is pre diluted.

    Thanks for the response.

    I guess I am only $5 ahead, but at least there is now an alternative.

    Has anyone evaluated this stuff?

    To correct the first post:

    G11 is blue
    G12 is pink
    G12++ is purple

    G11 and G12 cannot be mixed. But G12++ is approved to mix with either (but not both simultaneously, of course).

    Sometimes buying the Pentosin pentofrost is cheaper than going to the vw dealer.

    This information is correct as I just went through this with my coolant flush.

    I was considering buying from my local canadian tire but i though hey, for an extra 5$ ( at the time) i might as well get it from the dealership, that way headaches are avoided in the future.
