    How to Reset Wiper Motor

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

Anyone know how to reset the windshield wiper motor or have a good link where I can look? The other night I shut off my car while my wipers were still on and they ended up stopping in the middle of my window and now they are stopping there every time I use my wipers.

    Thanks!!

    Jess

Do a search here on these forums. There is a couple of really great links, pics and all about how to properly service that specific issue. If I recall there is a notch in the center of the main bar that you use to line it up to the center of the wiper motor.

Or you can just pull the arms off and put them back on where you want them.

You can't just take off the wiper arms and put them back in the right spot, you'll break them off when they try to get forced into the engine bay.

There is a nut on the wiper linkage where the arms connect to the motor. however I do recommend checking the spindles on the wiper linkage because mine did this exact thing when I first bought my car, and I reset the wiper arms. That worked for a few months until it did it again and when I disconnected that one bolt I noticed one of my wiper arms wasn't really going down so I found a tutorial on how to fix it so they worked like new.

Here is a link to the tutorial http://www.audiworld.com/tech/misc44.shtml

it took me about an hour to do the whole thing and I wasn't rushing anything at all.
