Question Audi A3 with high miles (150,000)

I am looking to purchase a 2006 A3 and found a nice one with a clean car fax, but it has 150,000 miles on it. During the test drive, I found the ac not working. I know the compressor on this model was problem, but is it any indication of the problems to come

    fsi motor?
gotta see when they changed timing belt
    dv
    pcv
    cam
    cam follower
    cracked axle boots

and the warranty for cam and cam follower is already over so u gona have to pay 3000 ish for new cam and cam follower to be installed if old one is bad.

those are main things u need to check. if i were you i get a 2008.5+ with tsi motor. less hassle in the long run.

^ All of this, plus with this kind of mileage I'd start budgeting for a new turbo too. Is it DSG or manual? If DSG, check into when the trans fluid changes were done... should've been 40k, 80k, and 120k. You'll be due for another at 160k, expect to pay around $400 if done at the dealer. If DSG services have not been done, I'd be concerned as the extended warranty on that is up too.

Check into the cost of getting the AC system fixed too. Compressor runs $400+ and they have to flush the lines and replace the dryer to do it proper.

If it's cheap enough, maybe you could rebuild the motor or drop in a crate motor. Stage III or K04 setup. I have almost 130K miles and my car is still running fine. I have done a lot of maintenance to my car and do show it a lot of TLC. If the previous owner does not have service receipts or logs, do expect to spend a few thousand in maintenance to take care of some of the common issues on these cars that some other people posted above.

Owners moving and is willing to let it go for under 6000.00 US. It's a manual shift with no leaks or strange sounds. And it drives really nice. I haven't looked at the cam follower yet.
