    Moro progress...so far

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Purchased my B6 just under a year ago. I went practically 10 months doing nothing to it and now things are finally starting to pickup.

Here it is in all its stock 4x4 goodness

I got tired of looking at that so went in on some ST Coilovers

Man those things can go low esp after they settle. Had to ratchet it up a couple threads

Then finally wheels and tires. Reached out to Fifteen52 and sourced some Miro's in 19" 9.5 et40. Great turn around and service. (Thanks Chris!) Wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12 225/40

This is how it sits now

I want to keep the momentum going so I'm hoping to do piggies and cat back soon followed by tune. Also gathering idea's for the interior re-work. We'll see where this goes.

Snatch up some e-codes or do the clear corner mod for some dark blue & silver only goodness.

I always liked the B6 chassis over the B7 but it's hard to find them in such a great condition.

Thanks. The JHM tune will be the one I go with. Too much positive feedback not to. I'm trying to be patient and follow a plan but its temping to just jump on it.

No rubbing at all unless I hit some huge dip too fast. The stretch is there. Was gonna go with a 35 series but thought better of it. I'll see if I have a pic of the stretch. Nothing crazy

Here's a pic of the tire. Not a great one but you can see some of the stretch. You can see it more in person.

Love that car man! well done. what STs did you go with (part# by chance??) Are they technically the ones meant for the V6 A4? (I've been researching them myself and for the price it sounds like they cant be beat). Those wheels are HUGE and PERFECT! i Love the idea of being able to run a 9.5" wheel on this car! pure bad ass!

Thanks. The part number for the ST's is [ST-90605]. Speaking with AWE these are the ones to run on the B6 V8. They don't have a distinction between the A/S4's although there is a difference in weight. They've proven to be very nice so far but I'm still under 1k miles with them. Not ultra stiff but good performance and like I mention above they can go very low. I still have the helper guides in mine and had to raise it when I had the 18's on.

I really like the wheels. Just a fyi on the fronts I had to run like a 2mm spacer so the top of the inner barrel would clear the suspension arm. This might not be an issue on 18's since the wheel is shorter. But I ran some spacers in the rear to balance it out.

How do you like the Hotchkis sways? I'm thinking of getting a 034motorsports rear but looking at options.

On another note I'm planning on doing piggies. Do I need to change anything with the sensors if I delete just the precats?

If you just gut the precats, you need to do spacers. I tried the "Help" Autozone spacers and drilled them out but didnt like how they went together because of the way I had to drill it. I also didnt like how tight the sensor itself was when I screwed it in so I looked for other options. I ended up getting some O2 spacers off of Ebay that went together very well and made me feel better about what the sensor was doing inside the spacer. I think I paid 10 bucks or so for the spacers.

You definitely need spacers if you gut them. Or as I am sure someone will suggest in the next response or two... just get the JHM flash. It also solves the O2 thing.

To confirm the O2 spacers need to be placed into the existing location just after the precat? So I'd take out the original sensor and replace it with the spacer? I have a couple DIY's but they don't explain it exactly.

Nice pics and glad you are happy with the Miro's. We don't have many left. And I curious to see what you think of the STs. They are for a v6a4 and I don't know why they don't have a S4 application.

Jshwon. I think you mean before, and no... It's the sensors downstream (bottom of the car, not up behind engine) that are the ones that need the spacers. There are 4... upper 2 and bottom 2. Think of what is being accomplished and it will all make sense. The first set of sensors is before the pre-cats so any change there (with spacing) isnt buying you anything. The gasses flow just as fast with or without the catalytic material in place so a spacer makes no difference there. Once you crawl under and look at it, it all makes sense. The second set of sensors are before the main cats and will be the recipeints of more fast moving (and toxic) gasses so they need to be "tricked" into thinking the flow rate is the same as it was with the catalytic material in place.. which it wont be once you gut it. The spacers move the sensor out enough that the gasses arent flowing by as quickly or in as great a quantity. I hope I have explained that well.

Agreed, none of the DIY's explain it real clearly. It takes seeing it all to understand what is going on with them.

I'm liking the ST's. They aren't a "race" set up but a great improvement over the stock. And they are not as stiff as some but that means to mean daily driving is much more reasonable. You can still push it but not lose your fillings I guess is one way to put it.

Since I had to spend money on maintenance I figured I might as well do a free mod to keep the momentum going. So I cleared the corners and did stealth bulbs.

Yes the wheels are filthy but it supposed to rain today. I'm surprised how much a difference this makes. The color flows so much better against the blue w/o the amber lens and bulb. Tried and true mod but a great way to improve the overall look.

Which writeup did you use for the clear corner mod? I am reluctant but with everyone saying its easy...and now that I have seen the results (on a Moro car), I am suddenly interested again. Thanks for any info or tips.

This is the best one I've found. Requires NO DRILLING and save messing with a few hard to reach screws takes a little over an hour. Very pleased with the results

Cool. I just read it and it looks like the way to go. I had seen some writeup where you heat up and pull the lens or something similar and wanted no part of that. I like this approach. So one last question... what bulb did you go with on "stealth" mod? Also where to source it? Sorry for all the questions. I am a fan of your car progress is all... but I am in Dallas area so we have some miles between us. Actually, mine needs suspension and a serious wheel upgrade before it will ever be as cool looking as yours. Keep it up.

Clear corner on Moro ... Yes! Looks soo good.

The non-drilling method works if you have 2005 B6. 2004 models require more work (slightly different headlight housing).

Thanks man. Yeah the only times I've seen having to remove the lense is on a B7. This should work for you. Regards the bulb it's the stock bulb. I just did a very light coat of aluminum colored engine enamel from O'riellys. Easy

Oh, you watched my vid? I've since gotten FI downpipes to go with it (little over a month ago). Sounds amazing ... Still haven't gotten a new video together though.
